Does anyone use long term antibiotics for repeat UTIs and self-catheterise?

I would like to hear from anyone who does - and what they think about this treatment.

Long term use of antibiotics sounds a bit dodgy, and likely to just develop resistance in the infective organisms. If the correct antibiotic is used it should clear up the problem unless something is causing reinfection. I have been using intermittent self-catheterisation for nine years, taking only simple care with cleanliness (though re-using each catheter for two or three days) and have had no UTIs at all. I am a 78 year old man.

Thanks for the reply. I think the catheters are injuring my bladder and causing repeat UTIs
