Long term chestpain/ left shoulder blade pain

For the past year ive had pain in my chest on left side... it happens randomly , sometimes stabbing pain sometimes burning but there's always a dull ache thats there... someday s shooting pain in my left arm as well... and recently pain in left shoulder blade ... seems like my whole upper torso aches.. to sum it up it all started about 9 months ago... I would feel jolt Like pain in my heart.. then I would instantly start panicking and get short of breath and have heart palpations. I thought I was having a heart attack. After a few episodes like this my father made me go to the ER... at the ER my heart rate was 130 and my blood pressure was through the roof... EKG came back fine and xray and bloodwork was fine... they wrote it off as anxiety... I kept going back to doctor and they thought maybe chosteocondritious (not sure of spelling) at another visit after telling him I still have the symptoms and felt as though my heart was beating out of my chest he did notice how high my heart rate was even at rest... so he then diagnosed me with SVT.. tachynicardia ... I was prescribed metotoprol daily and celexa for anxiety... well the meds seemed to help with my constant pounding heart but im still suffering from chest pain on my left side and constant pain between shoulder blades and down into my left arm at times. It's so frustrating . I am a overall healthy 28 year old female. I have a stressful strenuous job lifting people at the nursing home daily... I'm just still concerned that something serious is wrong... if it was muscular you would think it would be gone by now . It's been almost a year with all this... I've become obsessed with my breathing and feels like I'm always trying to get a deep breath . I go tomorrow morning to get my gallbladder checked.. doctor wants to rule that out... so we will see. I'm just worried sick that any day now ill drop dead of a heart attack 😯 any advice out there? I forgot to mention a few weeks ago when I was dressing a resident , I was bent over and when I went to stand up I had a fierce pain in my chest that was so terrifying that even the resident was asking if i was ok... after leaning up the pain subsided but for the hour after that happened, it would hurt to take a deep breath in...... ugh I just want anwsers ..

It's been very interesting reading this thread. For 9 months I have been getting a sort of numbing stich-like pain in my chest that radiates out to my neck, shoulder and arm. It would come on typically in the morning on waking, go away suddenly after a few minutes, but come back in waves for an hour or so. Long story short, I have seen 4 different GP's, 2 gastroenterologists, a cardiologist, and a chest 'expert'. I have had a angiogram (my arteries are fine), and endoscopy (nothing showed up), 3 CT scans, and a test of my lung capacity. I have been put on 6 different medications. The pains keep coming, but now often start deep inside my shoulder like a badly trapped nerve, and then quickly spread to the centre of my chest. Sometimes they are mild and go away quickly. Sometimes (like last night) they last 20-30 minutes and have me writhing around in pain. One of the CT scans picked up a nodule on my lung and I am having a CT scan for that tomorrow, and I assume that will look at my chest area as well. A return visit to the cardiologist resulted in my going on tablets for microvascular angina - that was about 2-3 weeks ago and they do not seem to have made any difference. During these 'attacks' my heart beats hard but not particularly fast and totally evenly. My bp goes up but comes down again once the pain stops. This is driving me crazy and badly affecting my life, and it's difficult to understand why something that is so powerful, well-defined and painful does not have an obvious cause.

I have been having the same problems. A dull kind of constant pain below my left arm shoulder which dont respond to pain meds and anything. Also I feel like I am always out of my breath and a little pressure gives and a high bp which becomes normal afterwards. My quality of life has been so low after this. Visted heart specialist and many more but they dnt find anything wrong with me. Also deep breathing help temporarily .. kindly update if you found any cure or reason. Also pigeon pose in yoga gives little relief

So Much in this thread is so accurate to what I have been going through for the past 7 months. I am 27 year old man. Around 7 months ago I was sitting at home after a hard days work lifting heavy steel and randomly had severe shooting pains on the left side of my chest which felt like my heart, up my left arm and in the left side of my jaw. I thought I was having a heart attack and panicked and collapsed. Ended up in hospital had an EKG/ECG (uk) and blood tests and all came back fine. I was told I had muscular pain In my chest from heavy lifting at work earlier that day and had a panic attack as a result of this thinking I was having a heart attack. The pain continued severely for around 3-4 months after, having severe shooting pains in my chest that would come and go sometimes everyday, sometimes every few days for periods that would last 20 mins up to a few hours at times followed by bad panic attacks because I believed I was having a heart attack. In between the shooting pain attacks I would have a constant dull aching pain and tightness around my heart which would always be there constantly and random palpatations and flutters that felt lile it was coming directly from my heart. which would trigger panic attacks every now and then. I've had so many visits to A and E every time I would have these attacks only to have the same tests and be told everything with my heart was fine. After numerous visits to my GP I was first told it was muscular pain from the strain of my job. A few months after that my GP told me they had ruled out muscular pain as it was getting worse and told it was acid reflux. After being prescribed pills for this with no results a few months later I have been told I'm suffering from anxiety chest pains and panic disorder which makes no sense to me at all as this came on so sudden one day and just hasn't left me. The day it started i had just come back from a relaxing holiday the day before. I have also tried to explain that I don't believe it can be anxiety as I can have these random attacks at times when I feel really happy and it would just attack me. My GP response to this is "that could happen with panic disorder" and she's convinced I'm just stressed and anxious and if it was my heart I would have had a heart attack by now. This has completely taken over my life I feel like I can never do normal things I've had so much time off work and I feel like this is either never gonna leave me or im going to just drop dead one day. no matter how many times I have had these attacks over the past 7 months I still haven't got used to them and they are still terrifying. I thought they was getting much better over the past few months and not as regular but the last few weeks they seem to be coming back stronger and more frequent again. I have given up going to A and E and my GP to be told the same thing over and over and this is what I have resulted to searching the internet for hours every night for answers.

I have exactly the same I have had this now for coming onto 5 years and I still don't have answers i am still being told if it was my heart I would be dead by now. I am seriously fed up and sick of being told there is nothing they can do I have been on so many different medications and have recently had to go for an MRI scan on my back exactly my back they are now checking if I have nerve damage I don't believe that this is the problem has I have been on nerve tablets eg gabapentin 900mg 4 times a day duloxetine 30mg pregablin also and these have not helped so how can this be nerves I hope you get answers soon and don't have to suffer like I have for 5 years.

After 10 months of these symptoms, the head GP at my practise told me yesterday that the problem was probably muscular-skeletal and that I needd to 'go away and put up with it'. I have no idea what do next

Vanessa, your post described my situation exactly. When I got to the part about always trying to get a deep breath, I knew I had finally found someone with the same issues as me. What ended up happening? Are you still struggling with this? You said you were having your gallbladder checked. It would be so helpful if you could let me know how you're doing and what they found. It's been MONTHS of this for me, and my doctor hasn't got a clue what's wrong with me.
