Long term maintenance dose, now relapse

Hi all,
Have had 2 or 3 bouts of major depression/anxiety in my time, now in my 50's. Was on maintenance dose of 25mg for last 10 years +and because dr. wanted me off, I stopped taking this dose in January. Slowly became anxious/irritable (creeps up slowly) then suddenly full blown depression again in May. Changed drs., new dr. lovely, went back on sertraline 50mg, now week 7. Am feeling 50% better most days now, last thursday felt pretty good, but today woke with bad anxiety although eased off now. Has anyone else been in a similar situation of long term use, relapse? Am thinking of upping dose to 75mg, or should I wait longer? I worry about continuing to take it as I have high pressure in eyes and sert doesn't help as can possibly aggravate/cause glaucoma.
Would really like to chat to anyone who has taken sertraline long term, thanks for reading and best wishes to all x

Hi Sarah
I was also taken off and relapsed big time now I am on 150mg from 100mg
Started sertraline 3 weeks ago
Feeling out of sorts head wise dizzy and my ears feel weird
I really don't remember this as a start up affect last time perhaps I forgot
Really confused a lot too and numb feeling in head I do remember that!
But finding it all so hard to deal with
Did you have this starting again?
Perhaps you should ask dr to go up maybe
Xxx

Is the dose you are on now higher than you were on before, and how long were you on it before you came off and relapsed? I do hope we are both feeling better soon, hold on in there! x

Thanks for your reply. I haven't had Lexapro, but I'm sure it will work for you again. Yes, mornings are the worst :-( Good luck, hope you are soon feeling better! x

Hi Bun,
I think Wilb is right that they do make you worse to begin with, certainly, but I have always improved with sertraline in the past, but taking longer this time. I did read on the net somewhere that ad's might contribute towards relapses, but difficult to know for sure one way or the other. Just want to be me again! Take care x
