looking for a quick fix

It was explained by the eye specialist yesterday that I have posterior blepharitis. No crusting on my eyelids just really bad dry eye to the point that I have to turn my office lights off as my eyes are super light sensitive and dry. I have some days that are ok but then other days like today where I started ok and by lunch time its lights out. Im not getting much relief from drops but do get relief from Hycor eye ointment. IIs there a surgical fix to this problem??

Thanks everyone, yes I have started the heat treatment and no I haven't had a clogged gland test. I agree I must drink more water and possibly start a suppliment. Im not having much luck with relief from artificial tears. currently using Systane Balance and Bio Tears...

I am interested to know that now you have the diagnosis, has the treatment changed i.e. heat treatment, eye drops, etc. Of course it is always good to have an explanation but does it actually help matters?

Hi helen there is no quick fix I'm afraid . I too was diagnosed with posterior blepth nearly 3 yrs ago . My anterior blepth cured it's self after 2 bouts of the messy anterior blepth but I've been left with it down deep in the glands ( posterior blepth .) . don't waste good money on super cures or lotions , the best idea is too discourage the little" bugs" ( for a better word ) by regularly keeping the gland openings open and the naturally produced oils flowing . The MGD bag helps alot but is largely a waste of time if not followed up immediately with a lengthy " massage " . Agood ten mins , then eye lid and gland openings cleansing . Whatever you do don't take it out on your eyelids . It's not their fault and will , not surprisingly , swell up ( closing the gland openings ) as a result of being punished . Ref computer use ensure that there is no other light coming into your eyes ( back ground light ) that would be brighter than the screen . It confuses your pupils and makes you stare ( ie. not blink enough ) . Also , if you can touch the screen then you are too close . my condition is "ok(ish ) now and i no longer need the lacrilube to see me through 7 hrs sleep , instead I can usually get away with visco tears GEL instead . ( long priods of dreaming , REM sleep , however , can leave me with very dry eyes upon waking ). Only used pre boiled water when cleansing , use good quality kitchen paper ( with a bit of abrasive texture to it ) , add a squirt of baby bathing lotion to the warm water and obviously don't cross contaminate . Eye gland expression is available in clinics as is the insertion of tiny tubes to keep the glands" puffed out " to a desirable diameter .
all the best.
