Looking for advice

Hi Everyone, I'm new to the forum. Looking for advice on how to proceed really.
I have been experiencing episodes of sore tum and watery stools for years, sometimes waking me in the night They were put down to IBS in my 20s. Jump forward to around 10yrs ago when the pain started to get worse and i started to get nauseous and feel faint with each episode. This gradually got worse and i was vomiting and nearly fainting whenever i had an episode. I unfortunately, did not seek medical advise as i put it down to IBS.
In March of this year it was so bad i ended up in hospital for 10 days, after pooing blood all night. Lots of tests were done, there was no evidence of an infection my inflammatory markers were raised and my CT showed thickening of the large intestine. I was sent home on tapering steroids over an 8wk period. watery stools returned when i was down to 20mg of steroid so i was put on mesalazine by my GP and it cleared up.
An MRI a few months later showed slight inflammation in the colon and at the anal region. A flexi syg was done in July and found nothing to report as did blood and faecal calpro tests.
I have been told that i don't have IBD based on these recent findings. I am concerned as UC runs in the family, my dad and his mum both had it and the consultant was not interested in hearing my background or my family's.
What should i do? My GP even thinks its strange. Any guidance would be appreciated.
Many thanks in advance.
