Looking for comfort and reassurance going for 2nd endoscopy and just had a upper GI with Barium

I would like to start out by saying that I am not very good with words, so I apologize if this post has an grammatical errors.

I have horrible acid reflux.  I started seeing a Gastroenterologist back in maybe August of 2017, for my reflux. At that time I had what I felt like a bubble in my throat and would often feel like food was getting stuck.  Along with this “bubble” I had a lot of burping and reflux.  The Dr. suggested over the counter meds and an upper endoscopy. I received the endoscopy.  Dr. found mild “abrasions” in esophagus, stretched it out a bit, and gave my prescription meds.  These meds seemed to work for a while. Fast forward to February.  Meds stopped working reflux is back, but not daily so I figured that it was just part of life. When the reflux became for frequent, I went back to my Dr. (this was about a week and a half ago). Basically felt as if I have a constant bubble in my throat, burning sensations (not every day), and a TON of burping. She suggest an upper GI, with a Barium swallow. I did that and the Dr. performing that producer made a comment about how much reflux I actually have. So yesterday, my Dr. calls to tell me that the reflux is bad.  Worse than she thought. That it is started in my stomach and traveling to my clavicle.  Now she is suggesting ANOTHER endoscopy so they can be sure that no damage has been done, can look at my stomach, and perhaps biopsy anything if need be. This literally scared the poop out of me. I have very scared and nervous. I should tell you that I also suffer from Anxiety, so things like this make me very upset. I also do not understand why they did not look at all of this on my first endoscopy, and I am a little angry.

Has anyone gone through this?  AM I going to die?  Is there a light at the end of this tunnel?  I feel that all I do is go for testing, I want a solution.

If any of you would be so kind to reach out, and tell me your story I would be so grateful.

God Bless!

I could say " calm down Kelly" but I won't because I also deal with life long anxiety disorder and know that won't help you. So, you had an endoscopy in August 2017 and results were showing some minor abnormalities and now your in for round two because the meds have stopped working and Dr. wants to perform additional tests. This is what Doctors do as it is good for the bottom line and of course they want you to feel better.

All sounds routine and in all likelihood you will be given a different medication and instructed to make some lifestyle changes (diet).

I have a similar malady except mine is called "silent reflux" or LPR as I have the constant lump in my throat and it effects my voice. I do not have GERD and no heartburn. Have had two endoscopy's and several different medications PPI's and H2 Blockers that have done absolutely nothing.

For the anxiety I take mirtazapine and escitalopram.

Hope this helps, if you want to hear more from me thats ok

    Be well

      James,

      Thank you for your response.

Still waiting for the scheduling department to call me.

I am hoping I can get in quick so that i can get on meds that will hopefully provide me with some sort of relief.
