So I'm 25 been diagnosed with PCOS for about 5 years maybe. And was never really giving much information or advice. Many people have told me that infertilaty isn't a big problem and many people can still have children. But one of the things I took from my doctors was that I will not be able to have children naturally because I have no periods full stop. Another was that since I have no periods and my ovaries were 'coated with cysts' my risks of ovarian cancer were extremelly higher. But I walked out with no help of suggestions and now I'm started to get more and more worried about my side effects and have never had anyone to talk to. First is my hair, at the moment I have really thick hair but everytime I run a brush or my fingers through it loads of strands come out with it. Even going for a shower I block the drain! Has anyone had similar problems? I don't want to start thining out to baldness by the time I'm 30. Another problem is the acne. I can't even call it acne because it's not it's vile. I have spots all over my body, armpits, boobs, underboob, stomach, bum and less often my vagina. Most have left me with dark marks or scars and about 80% of them are so sore and turn into boils or huge puss. My doctors told me to wash more so I did then the next told me I was washing to much?! Please don't let me be the only one with that grotesque symptom! Wow that was longer then I thought, hope you had a cup of tea ladies! Thanks to anyone who can help!!

Thank you. I've just felt very alone with it like not really knowing how to control my body in ways. For instance my weight has got so out of control and I just feel like I'm stuck in this hole begging for help. I know I need to go back to the doctors and really sort this out but anytime I'm there for anything they make you feel like your waisting their time! I remember them telling me to come back when I want children but I think I've come to terms with not having them and I'm actually ok with it but I wanted it to be my choice.

    Hi Danni,

I have the same problem going on with my hair. It clogs up the drain as well. I have the same everything. Another thing I have going for me is I am getting hairs by my lips and down by my chin and i have hairs growing on my belly as well. Lately I have been noticing some hairs around my aerola as well. Your doctor at least told you some things about pcos. My doctor just said I have it and nothing else. I knew nothing until I looked it up myself. I was diagnosed with it when I was 21 but I could have had it earlier. I never had regular periods at all even when I was a teen. I only had normal and reg. periods when I was on birth control. But now I have been off for 5 months and started juicing. 3 months of juicing I was getting my periods every month and now I am 2 months of no period... So idk whats going on with me. I have a therapist that has PCOS and she juices fruits and veggies and she gets her period on time. She has a son too! So I have been trying what she does. I also get those sores by my vagina as well and they turn to be boils as well. I don't know whats going on. But sounds like you have what I have.. Very similar.

I can't stand the hairs. I'm getting a mustache and I have hairs on my low stomach too. They put me on birth control some years back to try and bring on and maintain my period but it never worked. It's crazy that I get jealous of my friends who get them. I've never had a solid period at most just spots, never a cycle, never even a day. I think the spots/ boils are getting to me the most. I feel so repulsive to my boyfriend. He says he understands and he gets all cos I've explained everything to him but it's not enough. I just don't feel like a woman anymore.

Hi Danni, I've had pros since I can remember and I'm 32 now, what I will tell you is you have to find a doctor willing to assist you with dealing with what we have. I have similar health concerns as you but I will tell you everything doesn't work for everybody. But you have to be hopeful that something will work for you. I've tried many things over the years and never had a constant period until about a year ago. I started working out and eating better and I stay as stress free as possible. Pcos is difficult but mainly because there is so very few people (doctors included) that understand. I promise you it will be ok and although we can't control what we have, we can understand! Try looking on the Internet I've found great information on Pcos and I am also starting to take myo-insitstol. It's a vitamin that a woman here recommends I've heard great things about it. I wish you the best in your jourmey!

Hello Danni. I read your post with interest. I have had PCOS for over 50 years. It is a syndrome and affects womwn in different ways. You sound like you have some classic symptoms. Over the years I found my doctors to be clueless~they would ttry to sort out my symptoms but not the PCOS itself. If I were you, I would ask to see an endocrinologist~a hormone specialist. They will be able to help you much more than wasting your time with GPs who aren't clued up about PCOS.It's a syndrome which can be controlled, but not cured and an endo will be able to help you. I wish you well. Dot x

    Hi Danni,

I've lived with PCOS for +25 years but I am not a medic and therefore although I too have suffered many of the side-effects of the condition (acne etc.), I don't have 'all the answers'.

I found that I derived HUGE overall benefits, from taking Metformin (as the drug helped me to metabolise the fats in my food) but a change of diet delivered the best effects: Cut out (or vastly reduce) intake of oils and fats (including all dairy products). Dramatically increase your intake of Water - I drink 6-8 large glasses of still water, daily.STOP (altogether) eating products like crisps/bisuits/cakes and sweets (as they contain high levels of hydrogenated fats) and instead eat nuts and dried fruits.

PCOS is not an easy condition to live with but you'll find a way that works for you - I did, in a time when the condition was virtually unknown and therefore totally misunderstood and misinterpreted.

    Hope this helps!

Hi, I have had PCOS for god knows how many years, never had a regular cycle at all, it could go from the occasional 2 weekly upto 9 weeks apart, my hair is thin and falls out at an alarming rate so I have what I call "Rats Tails", yes I have had the spots/boils in all the wrong places and a hairy chin etc, for me the NO-NO helps with that alot or I guess another brand will also help. But what I really wanted to say most of all is that your GP is a fool, I have FOUR children, all conceived normally, so there is a choice for everyone either with or without help. I didn't begin taking Metformin until after my last baby as I wasn't aware it could help but it has regulated my periods and helped in that way but I have also developed Insulin resistance too as a result of my PCOS I think, but I have Chronic Pancreatitis on top so I don't what exactly what caused which issue first.

However I am now waiting for my menopause to start, I hope it doesn't delay it having PCOS but time will tell I guess, I'll keep you all posted lol.

Please feel free to ask if I can be of any help again.

    Jo X
