Looking for relief from Trigeminal nerve pain?

I too was diagnosed with trigeminal nerve pain in the 90's. My Dr. put me on carbmasapine. (not sure the spelling) I went off of it 2 years ago. I ended up having a flair up. I saw my dentist. He thought it was my teeth. I had a tooth pulled thinking this would relieve the pain. The pain went to the next tooth. After having a root canal I went to a specialist. He said pull the tooth.
I get woman's world magazine. In there there was an article about nerve pain. It suggested taking Turmeric. I also take El Carnatine. I found temporary pain relief through this combination. (I now don't eat sugar. It makes it flair up)
I also found a product that Walgreen's & CVS sells called RedCross tooth pain relief. It also takes the pain away & it's easier to sleep. Have to sleep with 2 pillows. It decreases pain. Hope this helps
I wish someone would have told me about this combo before.

Vick,
I know what your feeling with the dentistry episodes, as I did the same thing. I would suggest stop seeing the dentists, and order the book "Striking Back". It has all the questions and answers about this disease. I should have read it before I had all the procedures I went through.
I hope this helps you.

Hello vicki78970,
I am sorry to here you are with all us sufferers of this dredful disease. Job had to suffer and then GOD stopped his suffering, I believe this was put upon us to spread the word about what is happening to us . Every time I met someone I tell them about TN, I explain how this disease affects people, we all need to try to tell as many people as we can so they can spread the word. Those in the
community are as ignorant to this disease in the same was we all were until it affected ourselves or someone we knew. Go out and preach about this illness. Many of my doctors had never heard of this disease until I told this, is this beyond belief?
vicki you are spelling ur drug correctly Carbamazepine (tegretol) u r taking the old meds,
the new one is the one I take, mine is spelled Oxcarbazepine (trileptal) . I take two when I wake up in morning without my Gabapentin and two before bedtime with Gabby aka Gabapentin. the one u r taking does not work any more don't know why doctors prescribe that med.
Oxcarbazepine (Trileptal ) is used alone or in combination with other meds to control certain types of seizures in adult and children.
Oxcar is in a class of meds Called
anticonvulsants. It works by decreasing abnormal electrical activity in the brain.
carbamazepine may decrease number blood cells produced by your body. In rare cases, the number of blood cells may decrease enough to cause serious or life-threatening health problems.
I have my sodium checked every six months by my new Neurologist Dr. Tyler Webb at Mercy Hospital.
He was formerly with The Oklahoma University (OU) Doctors' Hospital, but moved over to Mercy, I followed him where he is located now. This guy has the best bedside manner, he treats me as if I was his very own Mother. He is a very young doctor who is very knowledgeable about TN. I hope telling u about the two meds helped you. Oxcarbazepine can reduce the sodium in the body to dangerously low levels , which can cause a life-threatening electrolyte imbalance.
So far None of this has happened.
Have a Joyful Christ Mas and a Merry New year to every, and to all a good nite.
Luv Y'all
May Bless us and give us peace
