Looking rather vacant?

WELL....

As you all know this cognitive stuff really plays havoc at the wrong times. I was at work today and trying to have a FIRM discussion with a fellow collegue about the care of a child. When I finally got to speak (after she had got things off her chest) she said "SO WHATS YOUR RESPONSE TO THAT THEN? OH yikes.... The owrds were there but would not come out and I found myself looking rather vacant! I tried to make eye contact to keep her attention but she simply walked off with the opinion she was right!!! I havent finished with her yet

Another thing I do is start conversations both formal and informal and cant remember what I said?? SHort term memory loss is a real hinderence to my ME.

Anyways whinge over! Anyone else suffering?

Yes, Donna - I know exactly where you are coming from. It's so exasperating and I don't know about you but I end up feeling a real fool at times - my confidence is going right down the pan. I just can't seem to finish sentences these days - I just forget what I was going to say or completely the wrong word comes out. (I'm sure people are beginning to think I am a bit thick!) Me included sad

And to cap it all, a neighbour rang the doorbell this morning and said 'Katie, have I done something to upset you' which made me feel really awful. I have been avoiding her because, as sweet as she is, she is a real chatterbox, and half an hour with her and I am drained for the rest of the day. I have tried to explain it before, but it just doesn't seem to sink it.

Thank goodness for this forum - at least we can get things off our chest and not upset anyone (hopefully!) :wah:

    Oh no....

    If things couldnt get worse!

My daughter pony had the vet called out today due to it being lame (not moving comfortably) I dashed down to te stables after work and he was already there. In my haste to introduce myslef I told him "Sorry I.m late Michelle I was running lettuce!" OH dear HE was called Micheal and the lettuce bit came from thin air - we werent even having lettuce. Laughing it off we went into the arena to watch th epont walking and trotting and AGAIN I said something silly " Hes plopping nicely isnt he" I was meant to say trotting nicely.

After thats I dashed to the Dr's (not normal one) and asked if he wanted to see my chest  I meant hear!!! Later in the consultation trying to hold a civilised conversation after my previous embarrasing commet I asked about a D*CK note....Oh I give up! I thought you would all understand and laugh along with what has been a very embarrassing day. :P

To top it all I have a chest infection and tonsilitus!

    Donna x

P.S MOderators - I have tried so hard not to offend anyone with my D*CK note and would some advice on how to explain or refer to sensitive issues without causing offense. I hope this is ok becasue this is so typical of ME and I dont mind being used as an example of how this ilness dibiltates your mental functioning :D

Oh Donna sweetheart, I am not laughing at you, no way, but your post did so make me chuckle out loud. I think it was the mental picture of your daughter's pony 'plopping nicely'.

Hope it's lameness is all right now. you didn't tell us how he is?

    Donna,

Well you certainly made me laugh  I fully understand the word thingy, and not finding the words. It's very frustrating and embarrassing  Thankfully it's only my family who has experienced this smile

Hope you feel better soon and make sure you rest.

It's okay Donna - all your dates (I mean mates) understand exactly what you are going through and how exasperating, frustrating and embarrasing it can be. My conversations tend to just fizzle out in the middle and I am just left looking silly (nothing new then?).

A least your pony seems okay! :sheep: (This was the nearest I could get to a pony!)

Meant to say, sorry to hear you have a chest infection and tonsillitis, Donna - that really is a pain. I suppose you are up to your eyeballs in antibiotics. sad

Well, I have had a great day (NOT)! Decided to have a zizz this pm as v. tired and thought I would try out super-duper bright blue American earplugs, as recommended in an article in one of the many ME mags I subcribe to. So far so good, until tried to remove plugs and they just sort of disintegrated in my ear. So have ended up in minor accident dept. at local hospital to TRY and remove them. Sweet little nurse booked me in but I ended up with one more like Hattie Jacques in 'Carry on Doctor' - she must have been all of 55 and obviously thought I was barking. Tried to remove the bits but no use so have now got to have ears syringed as soon as poss. which has to be done at my local surgery - can I get an apt. - NO. So I'm even more spaced-out that usual, my tinnitis is hammering away big time, and I can barely hear a thing. :steam:

I wish I could really make steam come out of my ears - that would probably do the trick!

This is NOT funny but I think for me its time to start listening to my head and not my body!

I had an herendous day yesterday showing myself up with all my mixed up jabber!

I would love to tell you that today was better but it wasnt! Not so much the wrong words but the words wont come out. My girls are wonderul who I work with and when I stare at them  they know the words are stuck BUT one of the two girls cant help herself and tries to finish off my sentence which throws me into utter confusion. :nahnah:

    Oh dear. sad

P.S As for you Katie you must have BIG ears to swollow the earplugs! You could tell them they were "EAR today, gone tommorow!" You could also says you have a EARy feeling about it allOr maybe you could tell him you cant EAR anything! ha ha ha ha I feel in such a silly mood!

PPS The pony (Spirit) is now on box rest for 2 weeks! (that means he has to stay in his stable and not play out! Argh bless x

    For Donna :diva:

There was a young lady named Donna

Who was unable to say what she wanna

    She did make mistakes

    But don't worry, your mates

Understand completely, what came upon her

Thought up this amazing rhyme (poet laureate next year folks!), whilst I was waiting for a second day in ENT outpatients to have those b****** super-duper bright blue American earplugs vacummed from my ear drums! Just out of interest Donna, the specialist (a George Clooney lookalike,) :doctor: said I had little tiny ears and that may have been the cause of the problem. So there!

    Have a great weekend everyone!
