Losartan - anyone got any advice on it?

I'm 37, started taking Losartan 50mg 4 weeks ago. Hardly any reduction in my BP.

Anyone got any advice on this drug and whether increasing dosage will make a difference and associated side effects of doing so? I've found this drug gives very little to no side effects so I'm pleased about that - now need to reduce the BP which is usually always approx 160/95.

    I'm 61 and for the last 9 months had been taking Linsinopril. I soon developed a hacking cough which kept me awake at night and was an embarrassment socially but was very effective in reducing my blood pressure.

    My Doc put me on Losartan 10 days ago and my cough has diminished considerably but they haven't had the same positive effect on lowering my blood pressure. I've had pain in my calf muscles the last few mornings . Its early days as yet so i'll persevere.

    I've now double the dose. Absolutely no change.

    What size dose are you on?

    I take 25mg.
