Losing weight due to acid reflux

Hi guys/gals,

I have had mild gastritis for the past 11 years. I have had mild reflux since then as well. My stomach and life has had its ups and downs. I went to the buffet 3 times in the past 2 months. It damaged my stomach really badly and then I burnt my throat eating a hot potato 3+ weeks ago. My stomach is a mess now and my reflux is bad.

I am losing weight because I am not able to eat many of the foods that ever folks with reflux can eat. I am avoiding all trigger/acidic food. I am avoiding all triggers for reflux. Even NON trigger foods affect me.

The only thing that helps me: oatmeal, brown rice, fish, multi-grain bread.

I need to gain more calories or else I will end up looking like a stick and it will ruin my body.

People say that we need to eat smaller meals per day. How can someone eat smaller meals and gain calories? This is impossible for me to do.

I am waking up and having 2 oatmeal packets together and trying to force myself to gain calories. I am having close to 2-3 low fat cream cheese sandwiches a day and I am having a nice sized chicken breast with brown rice.

I am very worried about this and I have no family or support. I need to gain my weight back or else I might get even more sick. If anyone is in the same situation or knows how to help me, please respond.

Bless all of you good people

Do you smoke cigarettes? I know that smoking will keep your weight down. At least it did for me. I quit many, many years ago.

I don't think it really matters how thin you are. Just keep eating healthy foods. The chicken and rice is good because there is protein there as well as carbs. Can you eat some eggs? Maybe try scrambled eggs with chopped vegetables such as zucchini and onion and a piece of toast? Maybe skip the onion if that's a problem for you. Zucchini and avocado? That is a healthy option. Not necessarily going to make you fat but it is healthy and I think would be soothing to your digestive system.

Instead of packets of oatmeal, try regular whole grain oats, or even better, steel cut oats. If milk bothers you, try almond milk or cashew milk, if you can.

I'm not a dietician but I think that eating lean protein and vegetables is good for you no matter what your weight is.
