Loss of taste

This is my second round of PMR.  I am on 11mg of pred now, down from 20 mg.  A few weeks ago I noticed my tongue feeling tingly and burny and now I have very little taste😕   Has anyone else experienced this?  I was on pred for almost 2 yrs the last time and had no problem.

I've been on prednisone since September 2015 and I find that I have a metallic taste in my mouth. Not every day but it's constant enough and I did chalk it up to the drugs. I'm reassured that it's just not me.

I was diagnosed with thrush for my burning tongue. My taste buds mostly tasted hot pepper which was hard to tolorate. Thsi has only been with my forth flate of GCA when I've had to go up to 80 mg of pred rather than 60. I'm on 25 now. The thrush symptoms are gone now that I used an oral antibiotic. I'm also having problems with warts on my feet. They are a virus and apparently I'm not fighting that off either. Never had this problem before. My rheumy had me stop having them frozen off. She's worried about infection and slow healing with my steriod diabetis.

I am going to make an apt today...that's exactly how I feel like burning hot pepper!

Try starving the warts of air.   I haven't tried this myself but apparently sealing the wart with nail varnish is helpful.  Another method is duct tape, but I don't know if that is really air tight....   Also, I've heard that tea tree oil is effective, there's stuff on google about it.

I've recently started losing my sense of taste. No other problems with my tongue or mouth. I realised that I'd started complaining about lack of seasoning in food and its gradually getting worse. Tea also tastes strange and not particularly nice now.

I mentioned it to my rheumy and he just asked if I had an infection at the moment. I've been feeling rubbish for a few weeks, severe lethargy and generally just feeling unwell, so who knows. My markers are not raised, but they rarely are despite several flares, so I cant rely on that.

I'm currently on 30mg pred (GCA) and have been on pred for years for PMR and now for the past 15 months or so with GCA.

I made a spicy dish last night that I've made several times before and apologised to OH that I must have left out some of the chilli, as it tasted quite bland. He didn't agree, it was apparently very spicy! I'll have to be careful when I season my cooking.

Unfortunately, having a reduced sense of taste hasn't had any effect on my appetite!
