i have never heard that as a stimulator side effect but there are other things that might be going on

Many medications can cause a temporary sensation of a metallic taste in your mouth - for example antibiotics. Was the device only recently implanted? Did they give you a course of antibiotics after the implantation (commonly done to make sure the surgical site doesn't get infected)?
