Help! Anyone had a similar experience with copper IUD?? Had mine fitted 4 weeks ago (12 week old baby at the time), went for threads checking after 1st period and it had disappeared.....x-ray a few days ago showed it had 'migrated' into my pelvis....thought i'd been having too much pain! So now what?? I'm waiting for referral to gynae but nobody seems in a rush or concerned when i am v worried about what's going on in my body/how it will be removed etc...any advice would be v helpful. ta.

I am on my second coil, the first I had to have removed after an abnormal smear, the second one was fine. I have had it 4 years, however the latter part of 2007 I could not find the threads so I got sent for a scan where it was found. Like your self I now have no idea who they are going to get it out and what it will involve? Bit worried really :?

I can not understand why so many women put up with all the side effects from doctor presribed contraceptives. My wife and I have had thirty odd years of cotraceptive use, four exactly planned children but we have nearly always used condoms and spermicide,no side effects, great sex and 100% success. Yes there was a time when our doctor got my wife to try a coil, it was horrible bleeding for weeks, yet it took five visits before she agreed to remove it.For us this proved yet another reason for not wanting doctor prescribed contraceptives.Carefull use with condoms and useing a foam spermicide high into the vagina is a very effective form of family planning, why put up with various side effects of doctor presribed contaceptives when there is such an easy alternative. :!:

Misterstrong, I completely agree with you. I had this coil fitted for a year. The first couple of months was like I was having my periode any minute. Then it was fine until I had a for a year. It decided to come out. I can tell you it was rather unconfortable. After taken it out the doctor told me I could have it put in again after my first periode. She must be mad. that thing is not coming near to me ever again. Our sex live has not really improved by have the coil in. For us at the moment it is back to condoms.
