Lost my faith in my Dr, migraine is back to haunt me (age 22

Hi everyone, I am 22 years old, highly successful sportsmen and just graduated from university and more importantly a long term migraine sufferer!

I will be quick, as to not bore you...my history;

At the age of around 12yrs old I would get exercise induced (when running for the county team or even playing rugby for englnd) migraine attacks, completely losing my sight, ability to walk and even talk, numbness and tingling of many body parts etc...However I had an associated symptom around that time, the feeling of being 'spaced out' or disorientation and it really messed my childhood up.

Basically I had a brain scan and it did not show anything, the Dr prescribed me PIZOTIFEN....leaving me really tired all the time...I had around 100 days off school in year 9, resulting in education welfare officers etc. I think this drug, combined with the other symptom was responsible for this. Thus I stopped taking the drug, and intrestingly remained migraine free until about 8 yrs later (now). They had abated entirely. The Dr prescribed them to the fact that I went through puberty a few years early!!??? end of................until recently!

I play rugby for a professional team, had training and everything was fine. Then all of a sudden (on the way home) I lost the control of my right arm, speech and movement. It was a real bad experience, leaving me in hospital for two nights. The Dr said it was a complex migraine with aura, I am now about to see a specialist very soon. THEREFORE, they were not caused by premature puberty, obviously! More importantly, I now have the exact same symptoms associated with it (disorientation etc) and am pizotifen again.

MY questions to you all.......

1) Are these symptoms shared with or relative any of your experiences?

2) Does anyone else get exercise induced attacks?

3) are there long term conditions/ symptoms associated with severe attacks?

Thanks alot, I can not believe I have only just found this site, awsome!!

I am now a PE teacher, set to go to Australia very soon to travel and play rugby.....1 thing preventing it all....THIS haha

    I have the lethargy you are talking about. I have worked two jobs for the past 6 years, and never had a problem. I'm only 23, so I should be running around with all the energy of a normal twentysomething. I started taking Pizotifen about 6 months ago, and it feels like my world has crumbled around me. I've had to quit my second job, and hoped this would help me focus on the primary one, but I haven't felt any increase in my energy. I'm taking vitamins to boost my energy, but even this has no effect. When I have an attack, it can last 6 days (like last week). I can't continue taking sick days, but I just can't function with the migranies I get. My doctor reminds me that they're limiting the frequency of my attacks, but they're just more painful now instead. He's telling me to continue taking them, but I'm losing my patience and getting sick of it. He's the only doctor who's taken me seriously, since my migraines aren't classic, but even HE isn't helping anymore

    im only 17 and have been suffering from migraines and headaches for as long as i can remember but for the past eight months they have become increasingly worse and ive been experiencing nausea,lethargy and have become irritable impatient and have completely lost my attention span. i went to the doctors with this problem in december there i was told it was all down to stress and i should take almogran for the migraines and just try to relax, not so easy when studying for a levels and working part time. the pills did seem to ease my migraines when i suffered them but the problem was in about a month i had used up the entire supply and had to go back, i also explained to the doctor that this had not helped at all with the other symptoms (my daily headaches lethargy and loss of attention span) and again it was put down to stress and i was given a repeat prescription.over the next few months the symptoms gradually worsened and it became increasingly hard for me to complete tasks at work home and college.about two weeks ago i went back again and this time was seen by a different gp.who explained that since the almogran were not helping at all he would prescribe me different medication which i should test for the next two months and then return if the problem still continued. he gave me a two month supply of pizotifen which he explained if taken daily would act as a preventative for migraines and then gave me another drug paramax(a paracetmol sachet combined with something to prevent vomiting) to take when a migraine did occur. ive been taking the pizotifen for the past two weeks and have not experienced any migraines but still all other symptoms remain, its making me reluctant to return to the doctors because it feels like they dont actually understand what the problem is and keep putting it down to migraines ( a word im fed up of hearing) i have also found that the pizotifen have if anything made me more tired and lethargic,its making me really depressed and begin to wonder if infact the problem isnt even related to my migraines.

    [Hi ive recently been prescribed with pizotifen my problem started about six months ago where i had veritgo sickness pain in my ears eyes and head I went to see an ENT speacialist who said it was Labyrinthitis and i was treated for that but my symptoms never changed. then i was told it could be Meneire's disease I had an MRI scan which was clear i'm still getting lots of pain but the other symptoms are better. I went to my GP who said it could be vestibular damage causing the migraines which are affescting my every day life. Since taking pizotifen I've become very tired all the time, forgetful, lack of concentration. I am waiting to have a CT scan to check my inner ear.
