Lost sex drive after prostatitis. What can I do?

Posted , 11 users are following.

Hi, I was recently diagnosed with prostatitis and I was treated with antibiotics for about two weeks. After I finished antibiotics I feel totally fine as I was before but what's missing is my sex drive. I have little to no desire masurbating (which was done almost daily before having prostatitis) and I have sex with my wife it will take forever to ejeculate (which never lasted in the past more than 5 minutes).

Which brings be to the question what should be done to get my past sex drive back?

Wow, I have never heard of this before. I don't really know as it does not sound like an ED situation.

I know this is probably not the best suggestion but maybe in the name of "science" you could find a good looking 25 year old woman willing to assist in the efforts of research with this  and see if you can start the elimination of the possible causes.

You could maybe call it clinical trials. Lots of times people are paid to participate in clinical trials. At least this would answer some important questions though it may cause some additional pain at home and other complicated issues. Unless you keep your research private and between you and only the research assistant. But you would at least possibly  have a direction on the problem with this research. This is a good place to start but use a condom to avoid more possible prostatitis.  At the moment and with never hearing of this before, I got nothing else to offer and this does sound like a drastic suggestion. Did your doctor have any suggestions?

Well, the first thing might be to talk to your doctor. If it’s not been that long maybe you need to wait a bit for things to return to normal. Maybe the prostatitis has reduced your testosterone. Get tested for that. Google may have information as well.

First of all it’s very unusual to be cured from prostatitis after two weeks of anti biotics . Was it acute prostatitis or chronic ?

Libido will come back, don’t worry . Are u on any other meds for it ?

I’ve had all three types of prostatitis. Acute is the nastiest but easiest to cure . Chronic bacterial prostatitis takes around 6- 8 weeks of anti biotics to maybe “cure” and chronic non bacterial prostatitis ( 95 % of cases) is non curable in most cases but manageable . For me the worry of symptoms and meds to help peeing caused lack of libido .

Perhaps the problem is you masturbating too much? Or at least used to. When I reached 25 my drive to masturbate dramatically decreased as I had too much to do to bother thinking about it. Every once in a while it comes naturally though. Taking long breaks between masturbation sessions makes it so much more satisfyng.

    John,

Have you been taking any other meds like Avodart or Finisteride ?  They will definitely reduce your libido. Stress and anxiety can also reduce it.  Tamsulosin (Flomax) will cause temporary retrograde ejeculation (dry orgasm), which should return to normal a few days after stopping it.  In any case your libido will probably return to normal in a few weeks, especially if you stop sexual activity for a while.  If it continues you can get your testosterone level tested.

John how old are you and what kind of shape are you in? I noticed when I lost weight it did wonders for my libido.
