LOST TAMPON/ BV

Hi I need all the advice i can get here! So i apparently put a new tampon in without taking the previous one out somehow... and the original tampon was pushed up and stayed there for 2-3 days until i luckily found it an removed it. The tampon was fully intact and the string was also still intact so it all came out in one piece thank goodness but as you can imagine the smell wasnt great! I did a virtual visit with my provider and she prescribed me a antibiotic for a UTI or bladder infection because i get recurrent UTI so i have what they call a sensitve urinary tract. so she prescribed me that just in case to be on the safe side but she didnt seem concerned about the horrid smell of the tampon. So im not really either i did bring up the thought of could this cause BV but she didnt really bat and eye and didnt prescribe anything for that. So my question for everyone here has anyone had a "lost tampon" before and if so how long is the smell supposed to hang around for. I took the "lost tampon" out yesterday evening when i found it and im aware the vagina probably needs to time rid itself of the bacterica that it caused being in there for 2-3 days but im just concerned it might be BV i have no other symptoms other than the smell... i did start a pro biotic to try to balance the PH im sure the tampon disrupted and also took a apple cider vinegar bath to try to "clean it out"... i also stated the antibiotic the doctor prescribed (just so it doesnt cause a UTI). I also just put in a boric acid vaginal pill to help hopefully balance out the PH faster an hopefully take the oder away. idk if you have any advice or anyone has been through a similar issue and can tell me how long is normal for the smell to continue that would really ease my mind! thank you.

You should be fine. The Boric acid should do the trick. If it's not better in a day or 2, I would use another Boric acid capsule. Just refrain from over washing or douching.

I haven't personally but it happened to a friend of mine. She said she had a bad smell for 3 or 4 days. But she was waiting for it to clean out on its own. Finally she used Boric acid for a couple days and that did the trick.
