Low blood pressure

Before my r THR had high blood pressure.  I stopped my blood pressure medication before surgery and did not restart until 6 weeks later.  Now I'm 4 months out and stopping Med again because several episodes of low blood pressure and near fainting. I know low blood pressure immediately after surgery is common but anyone have problems for months.

Have you had your hemoglobin checked? My hemoglobin dropped to 7g /dl after back to back hip replacements. It has finally climbing back to 12 which my surgeon is happy about.

After surgery my boy was running 100/60. So it was not restarted. It was that way for about a month.  When no started going back up to normal It was restarted, but now bp 100/60 again, on Med. Got appointment in a few weeks but I can't function like this.

When I was in the hospital after hip replacement blood pressure was 80/60. Almost passed out in physical therapy. Was surprised they sent me home.  It was this low for about three weeks. Nurse came every other day to check on me. I was lucky that my husband was home with me . It did finally go up some.

I assume you are doing this under medical supervision?

if not I would advise consulting your GP, you may well have another problem that needs investigating such as anaemia which can cause fainting

If you have done it under medical instruction you still need to go back for a check

I didn’t need blood pressure medications for about a month post op. I was hoping that my hypertension was caused by the pain pre op and that I wouldn’t need to go back on them but no such luck. I stayed off them and checked my blood pressure each day with a home monitor. When it started to go back up I re introduced the medication. Speak to your doctor they will advise you
