Low blood sugar after I eat. Zoloft and lorazapam

In the morning I have problems with my blood sugar getting low no matter what I eat. When i wake up I try to think protein and get plenty of it rather then spiking my sugar and it drops faster. I have no been diagnosed with hypoglycemia. I have thyroid issues and it's almost in line. I was taking zoloft and lorazapam for my anxiety issues. I've noticed when I started taking those my sugar had been messed up. My sugar went from 117 at 8:37am to 74 at 9:09am. It took 30 mins to get my sugar back up to a safe 90. I ate a protein bar and peanut butter out of the jar. I am winging myself off the the zoloft and soon the lorazapam. My anxiety wasnt that bad to be taking them.

I've been on lorazepam with sertraline too, if I were you, I would come of the loraz first. Because of the nature of that medicine, it often causes low blood sugar as a very common side effect. What dose of each are you on??

Is it a addictive drug like I'm suppose to slowly come off of it? I'm a googler and read both can cause the low blood sugar. I've heard I can just stop taking it.

It can be very addictive yeah, but you are on a small dose. How long have you been on it for?? I would say talk to whoever put you on it and discuss it with them. And if it were my decision I would take 2 on one day and 1 the next, alternating it and slowly lowering it. In my experience it was the lorazepam that causes low blood sugar and the sertraline didn't. But do not just suddenly stop taking it, it can cause worse symptoms than what you originally took it for

Thank you Sammyjo! I will slowly come off of it. I talked to my doctor about coming off of the zoloft and decided after I was going to come off lorazapam. I've been on both for 2 months. So not very long. I used it for a crutch for a long time. I never took it but always made me feel better knowing it was there if i needed it. Then my doctor have it to me for twice a day. I think I forgot to mention my thyroid was out of wack. So I should have waited to see if that straightened out before I started taking the medication.

I am on 4 mg a day and have tried to come off four times lorazepam. My last doctor understood and kept me on 4mg. I also have thyroid problem. The problem is my doctor rang today to make an appointment about lorazepam. Now I am frightened that she may force me to come off it. I am 68 and I am fine except for tbyroid issues. Can doctors actually force you to stop. Now dreading appointment. They have not even sorted my thyroxine yet. They keep putting my levothyroxine up and down according to blood tests. All over the show.
