Low Dose Naltrexone to Treat CFS? Has anyone heard of this?

Has anyone ever heard of using Low Dose Naltrexone (LDN) to treat Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome?

I was diagnosed with CFS in my early 30s and had learned how to manage my symptoms, but recently my symptoms have gotten worse, and I have more bad days than good ones.

The infectious disease doctor is treating me with doxycycline (an antibiotic) for 4 weeks to see if my symptoms improve. While reading about the different treatments, I came across several articles about using Naltrexone to treat CFS. This drug is actually used to help people with addictions, but there have been some studies done in the treatment of CFS and Fibromyalgia. Hope someone knows something about this. I'm wondering if it is worth bringing up to my doctor next visit.

Thanks in advance for any feedback. KPD

    Good morning.

I've tried starting a new discussion before, and I never seem to get any responses. I see that my comment posted, so I'm not sure what could be going on. I'm really hoping someone knows about Naltrexone to treat CFS. It seems to be a relatively new treatment and sounds very promising.

Since we all seem to be in the same boat around here, I would love getting someone's input before bringing this up to my doctor. Thanks in advance for any feedback. KPD

Hi KPD, think the problem with no replies is that it's not been heard of on the whole, I had expected replies to my post but nothing so far. I've heard of lots of different treatments but not LDN. Good luck

Thanks so much for your reply, Debi! I appreciate it. I thought maybe my comment wasn't being seen for some reason. I belong to a closed group on Facebook called "Undiagnosed Warriors," and I've gotten some feedback about  LDN. It doesn't sound too promising, though. I was hoping for a miracle. HAHA!  Thanks again and good luck to you. KPD
