Low fibre diet

I've had severe stomach pains about 6 times in the last year, they come on night with no warning and make me sick each time, then the pain lasts for a couple of days. In between I have quite a bubbly, windy stomach.
I have had different tests and no conclusions, I had an X-ray which showed my colon full of poo, so have been told to try and low fibre diet, has anyone else had to do this diet, and any vits you would recommend as doesn't seem very healthy. I haven't been very strict as hadn't had the pain for nearly 6 months but last night I did and been in bed since. Any advice would be welcome

As for low fibre im kind of the opposite and need to keep my fibre levels quite well maintained. But try going white grains (white bread, rice etc ) avoid cereal and oats and avoid high fibre veg and fruits, beans are also high in fibre. Otherwise you could try a colon cleanse detox tea or even a high fibre drink to clear out your bowel although I would recommend staying home if you chose to do this as it may not be pretty but worth it to detox and clear yourself out.
Good Luck hun.

I really can''t advise because I am so new to this IBS. I always had a constipation problem and have taken stool softeners for years on and off. Its just recently that I got a terrible 2 weeks of diahrea and was hospitalized. They tested me for everything and did a colonoscopy and found nothing. They think its from overuse of antibiotics which I have taken alot in the past year due to UTI infections so I just don't know. I feel bloated,, gassy, and back in forth with runs and constipation but most irritating is the abdominal cramps waves of pain all day long. Doctor wants me to try an antidepressant and so far it gives me headaches and ringing in my ears. I just hate taking all these medicines. Anyway lets keep in touch in this discussion to help one another. Take care.

Additionally - Doctors always assume that an antidepressant will help anyone whos and bit down with an illness, they sometimes hand them out like lollipops. Now im not saying youre not depressed but surely finding a treatment/cure will help you alot more than popping another pill. Sorry it just really anoys me its like theyve said 'ive given up on you, take this to be a bit happier even though youre in pain etc'. I got given antidepressants when i was really low due to ibs. made me feel even worse than i already was and therefore more 'depressed' in the end the thought of being on them is actually what picked me up and made me fight back harder. So i suppose it had some result. There is nothing wrong with needing antidepressants, im not saying that at all. Im saying that treatment/cure is the best antidepressant .. x
Good luck and sorry for ranting. I hope you feel better soon.

Did you have pain each month though with pelvic infection?
How did they treat it? Antibiotics?
This does seem very similar especially with no one knowing why my levels are high.
Thank you

Tricky to say when it would flare up because at the beginning I was terrible with jotting it all down. I would get pain often, but huge flare ups every 4-6 weeks where I would be in agony from anywhere between 8-24 hours. Was even hospitalised 3 times before it was considered serious upon my 4th visit.
I had to have an operation to remove the 'gunk' from my pelvis and antibiotics. Im still undergoing tests and various treatments to find out whats causing the pain and what even caused the infection as doctors still dont know. I was put ona contraceptive pill to regulate me and that seems to have helped. Even if its just so I can plan when Im due on so I dont plan big events when I might be in pain etc.
Get tested for pelvic inflamatory and cysts. Ultrasound might do it.
I think ibs is one of these problems that may never fully go away so you have to find ways to work around it. Try eating regulary also as leaving massive gaps between eating only makes bubbling and gas worse (in my experience anyway) . x
