Low Heart Rate!?

Posted , 3 users are following.

So today I went for a sleep study consultation and they took my pulse and the assistant told me my heart rate was low. Last week it was 67-68 and now it only got to 59. The doctor who gave me the official consultation said that I should not worry and that low heart rate was normal and my dad doesn't think I need to see a cardiologist. I got one ekg last week by my GP and she checked my heart and also said I was ok. I am 18, 5'11 and have good blood pressure and no family history of heart problems but I have been having heart palpitations for quite a while now. My parents think I am overreacting and I do have anxiety issues but I am kind of worried. Please help me out thanks

Trevor, are you a fit and healty man, and not too overweight.

?Do you realise that some of those fantastic athletic Olympian's only have heart beats in the high 30's, amazing isn't it.

?I would be very surprised if you had any heart problems at your age, the chances of you having a heart problem would have to be in the 100,000's to 1.

?Sometimes our heart does have funny beats, as though it has missed a beat and then thumps harder or that is the sensation, nothing to worry about unless it keeps happening over say more than an hour in any one episode.

?Keep away from strong coffee, and or supplements that have lots of caffeine, incl guarana, especially so called energy drinks they are not good for you, and second they cause some people to have those missed heartbeat feelings, they do for me.

A normal heart rate is 60 to 100 beats per minute. But doctors are not to concerned unless it gets down below 50 unless you are physically fit. Like the other person said athletes like lance Armstrong his resting heart rate is like 42. I'm not physically fit and also on a beta blocker for other reason but heart rate gets to 58. So nothing to worry about. And the palpitations almost everyone gets just some people feel them. I get them.
