Hi I am 40 years old and have been feeling quit crappy lately. I recently had blood work done at hospital which resulted in low hemoglobin was 10.3 and feritine was a little low. However I was on my period and there pretty heavy when blood was taking. Doc ordered a whole new panel a week later so waiting on those results . I have been feeling light headed and some dizziness. I also have Thalsemia but doc wasn't to concerned he just wanted to recheck levels to see why there low. White blood count was normal and red blood count was also normal. I'm just looking for some advice of what I can do to boost my levels . Thank you all

Hi, Anemia is a tricky thing. One day at a time. Your Dr. will guide you through it. He will most likely put on iron. Eating is important. Eat iron rich foods. He may want to give you a couple of standard tests. It is not an easy fix. Follow his lead. Karen

I also have a low hemoglobin count, last taken it was 8.7.  I also have the genetic

disorder ,Thallasemia.  After many years of taking iron supplements, I was instructed to never take a drop of iron again.  Thallesemia is a form of anemia, but not due to lack of iron.  Thus , I have had two hip replacements and now have problems with

my back.  The hemotalogists suggests the overload of iron has "rusted" my joints.

I urge to check with a specialist  before injesting any more iron.

Do you have any southern Italian or Greek  bkg? quite commonwith this DNA.
