Low vitamin D

Hello,

I've been feeling extremely sleepy and tired during the day no matter how much I sleep at night. I've also been experiencing muscle aches in my arms and feet and random palpitations with random anxiety. I had some blood work done and it came back that my vitamin D was low-ish...it was at 29. Which I know isn't very low...could it still cause my symptoms?

    Hello,

My level was 25 so not too much different from yours. I had severe fatigue, bone pain (still have got it), some muscle pain and cramping pain in my calves. I've had palpitations and anxiety.

I still have a hard time believing that a vitamin deficiency can cause all the problems ive been having!

I've been on high dose therapy for 10 weeks (2x20,000 a week) next week I start my maintanance dose of 1x800 a day.

All my bloods have returned to normal (I had raised ALP and low calcium) and my vitamin d level is currently 85. My dr said it can take 6 months for symptoms to improve so have told me I need to give it another 3-4 months.

I hope you start to feel better soon.

Thank you so much for responding. Actually I called the clinic to find out how much to take and she said that they'll send me a prescription of 50,000 once a week. And I asked her if mine was too low and she said I was actually at 26! Which means I'm not even thinking straight bc I thought they said 29 the other day... hahaha but yes now it makes sense why I'm so TIRED! Hopefully I get to feeling better soon. (: And I do wish you a speedy recovery... crazy how a little vitamin can cause us so many symptoms!!!

Hi an0chick2, my Vitamin d was at 65 (healthy range 100-200) and it prompted my parathyroid glands to secrete parathyroid hormone in large large doses signalling that my body was in a somewhat panic mode. this meant my anxiety was crazy high. Since going onĀ  Vitamin D supplementation my anxiety went from 8 to 2-3. so YES, a small vitamin can be devastating. im still waiting 3 months to get the levels normal, and 6-12 months to stop feeling symptoms
