Lower back pain and pain down to my toes

Hello all I have just been to my doctor as I have been having pain in my lower back and down to my toes on my left side and sum pins and needles around my gron it will last for a few minutes my doctor told me that I have damage nerve in my lower back and give me sum naproxen but it don't have any effect on the pain sum advice would be great

    How can he diagnose a damaged nerve without a Neurologist doing a nerve induction test?  Have one of those?

    Yes, it could absolutely be #4 on my list.  Definitely had that happen.  However, I would try a chiropractor first to see if if it's just a pinched nerve caused by a misalignment of hips, SI joints, pelvis, lumbar spine, etc.  Simple way to rule out the obvious.  You may try some acupuncture, PT, pain shots, etc.  However, what you really want is a definitive diagnosis as to the root cause of your pain and then you want to fix it...permanently.  

    In my case, that path led me to a neurosurgeon who had to remove the bone spur crushing my sciatic nerve root.  Final stop on the diagnosis train but at least it completely solved my problem.  Think carefully about your next step.  PS: I am NOT a fan of nerve meds (Gabapentin [Neurontin] and Lyrica.  Side effects, weight gain...  Choose wisely.
