Lower back pain for 2 months

Hi, in the past two months I’ve been coping with a moderate/dull lower back pain. Sometimes I feel a twinge that starts from my right lower back dimple and goes through my buttock (especially when I lift something heavy). But the dull pain never goes away unless I lay down to sleep (it doesn’t bother me while sleeping). It’s worse when I sit down on the chiar or stand up for more than 5 minutes.

I must admit that I do suffer from hypochondria or health anxiety and now I am scared that it’s something bad. I think this makes my pain worse and chronic.

What do you think of this? Have you ever coped with this problem? Could it be a sign of anxiety?

Thanks,

D

Oh sweetie have I ever. I've suffered with lower back pain for 13 years and the pain is so great that I have to take narcotics to help me cope with the pain.

What you need to do to keep your pain from getting worse is to see a physical therapist. The therapist will give you exercises and stretches to strengthen your core muscles so that your back doesn't do all the work. I would also recommend you stop picking up heavy things. Although some people have put their backs out by bending over and picking up a piece of paper. But I think you stand a much better chance of hurting yourself more permanently by lifting heavy objects.

Thank you for your answer. I am only 22 and when I said heavy things I meant my trolley as I study abroad, my grocery shopping and my little cousin. I plan on starting swimming. I have done it before, but I stopped when I realised I had no time to do it anymore.

Thank you and hope you’re doing better ❤️

Also, the pain started on my week off from fitness. I am an active person, I take pilates,  body attack, circuit or zumba classes.

Body attack combines athletic aerobic movements with strength and stabilisation exercises to create a killer workout that gets results. Also, on circuit classes you use body pump movements, which include lifting weights.
