Lower dose Venlaflaxin

Hi,

I've been struggling to get my dose right for months. Have been on 150mg xl for about three months/ GP increased me to 187.5 and i nearly lost my mind with extreme anxiety so went back to 150. I really don't feel this is working for me and think i was slightly better on 75mg. Has anyone found they do better on a lower dose. Thanks

I have been on 150 for 6 weeks. My anxiety is lower but I feel very tired. I am on other meds so hard to know what is causing what. I don t want to go up but go down on another med.

Were you feeling any better on 150 and what side effects were you having ?

I may have been better on 75. I am worried about withdrawals if I drop. How long did you stay on 187.5 before you dropped back down ? Did you get increased anxiety on the other dose changes ? Have you tried any other AD s ?.

I kind of wish I d never started on meds.

I only stayed on 187.5 for two weeks. I was climbing the walls with constant intense anxiety which slowly reduced when i went back down to 150. I just don't think this is working as it should but i really don't know whether to go down to 75 or not. I just feel very detatched on this med and have trouble concentrating and my memory is affected. I've been on Sertralin and Prozac.

I'm not sure it is working for me. I am less anxious and my mood is passable but I so tired and dizzy. I'm worried if I drop to 75 I will withdraw.

You should probably by 37.5mg at a time. After only six weeks i don.t think you'll have a problem withdrawing down from 150mg. May take a few weeks but best to do it slowly and you should be fine. I also wish i'd never started on this med but the thought of changing again is a nightmare so maybe a lower dose will be better. I lose my balance a lot too and have vivid disturbing dreams. Do you get that ?

I have very vivid dreams but they don t bother me. I do get dizzy a lot and, headaches. Most frustrating thing is that my anxiety is lower.

if you've only been on 150mg for six weeks it may take longer to kick in. Could be up to three months before it has the full effect. I think at 150mg it becomes as SSRNI, lower than that it is SSRI. Why do you want to stop ?

I have been feeling very low the last couple of weeks.....except 3 days. Am getting dizziness and headaches. I dropped on my mirtazapine last night and feel wretched today. I feel trapped. I feel crap on the drugs and need to wait or withdraw. I can t see an end in sight. I'm so tired all the time. Really not coping.

Sorry you're feeling so awful. Focus on the three good days that you had. I aslo have a good few days or a good day and i think that it's working then i go down again. Slowly there does seem to be more good days than bad days. mIght may be worth just noting how you are each day to try and get a picture of your moods. How long have you been on Venlaflaxin and do you take anything else. When i'd been on 150mg for six weeks i was ready to stop them because i felt horrible. In some people they do take a long time to work. There is an end in sight. I do think you have to carry on for a while longer but you have to make a decision. Good luck and if you need to i'll do what i can to help you

could be drop in mirtazapine that is making you feel so awful. I still don't know what to do any Venlaflaxine. I'm having a few good days at the moment so thinking i'll stay on this dose but when i get bad days i just want to get off it.I have bi-polar so i'm up and down anyway..To be honest i had been on 150mg for about ten weeks before i stopped feeling bad most of the time. The higher dose means that it is working as SSRNI and your brain has to adapt to that. When you say you feel awful are you depressed or anxious or both ? Hnag in there though, it's so hard to get the dose and cocktaill of meds right but you'll get there. Message me anytime

Do you take diazeoam because that can make you very tired.Might be worth having a chat with your doctor. must be awful being so exhausted and having to care for a baby. Have you only felt like this since you started the venlaflaxine ?

    Hi Elaine

I am a lot better on 75mg than 150mg. I have a clearer head and I'd say calmer too.

Yep. Went from complete and utter exhaustion to having a bit more energy. I am in fact down to 50mg. Each reduction puts me in a clearer frame of mind. It's what I've wanted for many years. My dr thought the answer was to increase my meds. But I've done this on my own.

Yes. So I can't reduce without doctor prescribing lower dose which i expect he will
