Lower pain on my left side

i am a 64 year old female that has lower pain under my ribs on the left side.I just had a colonoscopy and endoscopy. Everything came back normal. For several days the pain is gone but now it's back. I also have had some right-sided chest pain when I breathe deep. That does seem to be getting some better. . On my left  side  pain is constant and does not let up. I'm wondering if it could be gas pains or because I haven't had a BM since my colonoscopy. Nothing really seems to help the pain. I feel very bloated. Any suggestions?

It's almost certainly a result of the colonoscopy Jackie. It's normal to be constipated after the total clean-out you get from the colonoscopy prep, but I wouldn't advise taking laxatives just in case there's anything more serious going on.

You had a lot of air pumped into you from both ends during the procedures, and this is what's causing the pain and bloating now, together with the fact that the colon tends to react to the intrusion by going flaccid, and not moving the air along.

If it doesn't get any better in the next few days - or if it gets worse - you might want to speak to your doctor.

Obviously, if you start having bloody or tar-like stools, you should go to A&E, but that's unlikely now, a few days after the event.

Hmm... first time anyone's called me sweet in a long time! Cantankerous old bat, yes. Sweet, no.twisted

But thanks anyway and I hope you'll soon be feeling better.

My dr called today and is concerned of scar tissue or blockage.  I am a gastric bypass of 10 years ago so I guess it could be anything. I have to go in for a contrast cat scan. Hopefully I will know and feel better soon!!!

Oh yes - that could be an entirely different matter. I hope all goes well for you.
