LP on my lip?

Posted , 6 users are following.

The plot thickens....3 weeks ago i developed a small circular white spot on my lower lip (right on the border of the wet part and dry part). i did notice that when i work out i tend to bite that part of my lip.  I saw my dermatologist and she said it looks like a traumatic bruise but mentioned that LP can also appear on the lips.  in the past it seems like any type of tissue trauma triggers an LP outbreak for me. Has anyone ever had this?

Hi Jason in the same boat. I've developed 2 patches one on

either side of my bottom lip. I've only just noticed the 2nd one.

My lower gum has turned red as well.

Did your dermatologist give any clue if these would disappear or are they are here to stay? P's I compress my lips when I'm

concentrating. I ask as I'm unable to consult with a

dermatologist for a few months (NHS waiting list ).

Hi Jason, I know, strange thing isnt it.....yes, I have the very same thing, happened about 2 weeks ago, still there....sore sometimes but not all the time. Tried my mild 1% hydrocortisone cream on it, no change so stopped that and just make sure my lips doesn't dry out, use Vaseline or lip salve. The problem is you keep going to the spot with your tongue, so trying to stop doing that too! I think it is part of the olp.......just trying to maintain a stress free life! Keep smiling, gail😊

I don't get a patch but i do get swelling, almost like a fever blister/ulcer is beginning.  I try to ignore it, but if it gets really bad, I take some of my husband's Valtrex and it usually settles it down. I think it is triggered by eating fruit.  I had really bad  mouth ulcers when my LP/OLP started in August, 201, then again in Nov., 2013.  I'm always aware they can return, but I pray they don't.  It's hard enough having red, inflamed gums and white patches inside my cheeks.  I hope yours gets better soon!
