LPR / Reflux Flare Up Duration Question

Hello All,

This post may be very redundant but I was wondering how many of you have experienced multi-week flare ups from what appears to be from stress. I have managed mild/moderate LPR symptoms for years with diet and exercise to the point of non-existence.  I have never been on medication, 36 years old. Two weeks ago following  a week of very acidic foods, very strenuous exercise and weeks of poor sleep due to personal finance, I woke up with a burning abdomen, acid flowing up the esophagus and moderate bloating. These symptoms have been more or less constant for 16 days. Walk in clinic just put me on a high dose of omeprazole as my doctor could not see me immediately. So so improvement. Massage therapist said my muscles were extremely tense. Going to get checked for hiatal hernia, gastritis, etc. Worse when emotionally upset and abdominal exertion. Midday also seems to be the most problematic. My question is basically, how many of you who manage this horrendous illness have returned to "normal" after an usually long episode? Many thanks.

Hi Jaytee, I am sorry your suffering. I cant offer any advice as I am in a similar situation. I have been on 2 x 20mg daily of omeprazole but suffer quite bad at night. I try to sleep upright, which was recommended to me, but it doesn't help much and is very uncomfortable, but may work for you. I hope you feel better soon. take care xxx
