LPR treatment

I'm a 44 year old woman who was diagnosed with LPR about a year ago. For the most part, taking a 2 week course of Nexium (esomeprazole) (20 mg) every morning and a Zantac (ranitidine) (150 mg) before bed at night would clear it up. However, I just did this course and that lump in my throat is still there, I'm still coughing at night, still constantly clearing my throat. I am unable to see my ENT until early May, so am looking for what I can do in the meantime. Is it safe to do another 2 week course of Nexium/Zantac? The Nexium label says to only do 14 days and then not take it again for 4 months, so it makes me nervous to take it again so soon.

Hi, I have taken upto 80mg esomeprazol per day for the last 15 years and have had no side effects at all. I think like most meds they want you to take them for the minimum time but I haven't yet seen any reports of anyone having problems using them long term. To me the alternative is worse and my GP says they do protect against Barretts etc.
