LS and dry everything?

I have recently been diagnosed with LS and wondered if anyone out there has linked it with extremely dry skin all over? Even my hair and fingernails are very dry. Doc didn't comment when I told her that my skin all over is very dry. I suppose being post menopausal I would have dryer skin but I think they are linked somehow.
I'm just glad I don't have to cope with periods too!

Hi and welcome Cleo! thanks for the idea. I jsut went and looked up the nutritional deficiencies associated with dry skin .. and guess what? the ones I found are A, zinc, B2, omega-3 oils... and from my months long delving into this stuff these are ALL on the list of co-factors required to be taken with Vitamin D for healing autoimmune diseases. D is the linchpin, but wow, the whole set really puts dry skin squarely in the cross hairs... well, grin even more reason to take th whole lot to up our sufficiency levels.
Cleo you can find a couple articles i researched the last few months on how to manage our LS. just click on my name and scroll down on the right side you'll find some reading that may be helpful for you. Blessings- oh, Im 72 and been past that menopause for many years now myself.

Thanks so much Nancy...well that was a good year! I'm 72 also! I will read the articles you recommend. I'm just so happy (not the correct word) to meet other folk with this worrying condition. I am not alone any more.

I have EXTREMELY dry skin and have had it since my late 20s (I'm 54 now). Menopause hasn't helped. Some part of me is always itching due to dryness. I don't think it causes the LS but I certainly think it exacerbates it. I believe I've had LS all my life but it went crazy with menopause.

Chris, Cleo, Susan and others - oh wow, I was just looking that symptom back up a couple days ago... I always thought I remembered dry skin was associated with a lack of omega-3 oils. Wellll, yes dry skin is, BUT I found far more association with deficiency of vitamin A!
... and then on a hunch I asked google for any association of dry skin with hypothyroidsim. another WOW! so for those of you who have read my list of discoveries about autoimmune LS, here's even more rationale for actually believing it and taking the nutritional protocol. Cool.
Dang, but doesn't this make you all wish our education had included PRACTICAL NUTRITION/CHEMISTRY when we were all in middle school/Highschool. we might never have had an LS outbreak if we'd known about the simple but powerful health requirements.
