LS and frustrated!

Hi everyone, I am new to this forum but not new to  LS. I have had the dx for many years.  I used to treat it with clobetasol and estrogen/ testosterone a long time ago but I just got out of the habit and it never really bothered me that much, i mean i dont get the itching part like so many do.  So what ive done is ignore it, I was single so who cared?!  Well, now im in my 40s gone through the change of life.  My genital are is taring when i dry it after a shower with a towel.  I seem to have lost my clitoris.  I tried to masturbate and I cant even do it!  I am totally disfunctional sexually at a time when I am trying to find myself and who I am being divorced and such.  HELP!  I know its been a long time since ive seen a gynecologist but I have to do something.  I dont know if I will ever be able to work again sexually.  Its so depressing I try to ignore it.  But now im not sure the celibate life is for me so im getting concerned.  Who would put up with this in a relationship!?  Thanks for letting me vent...

I was diagnosed with LS a few years ago..and since then it's never really gone away.  I believe I had this disease for at least 6 months or even longer before being diagnosed.  My clitoris is now gone...I have only had sex a few times in the past few years.  And even on my honeymoon 2 months ago I could only tolerate it for about a minute.  How sad is that? 1 minute of sex on my honeymoon sad  It feels like my anus and my vagina are literally closing shut.  Not to gross anyone out but when I go number 2 it's like I am pooping razor blades!  It's excruciating.  I can't see what's going on but I think the skin is fusing so when I try to go number 2 it just tears open.  Same with sex.

I wam following this conversation in hopes that someone somewhere has some answers, or a cure?????  What a blessing that would be.

I so so sorry to year about your experiences too.  LS is often in a figure of 8, so it does affect the anus and you need to apply the treatment there as well as on the vulva.  One tip: glycerin suppositories make it possible to poo with much less pain and give a chance for the anal tears to heal.  But the steroid ointment has to be used there too.  Ask your specialist for more information.

Hello I suffer from LS. My vagina is slowly starting to change and I feel unwhole. I’m so afraid and scared and now if I’m intimate with my husband he tries to touch me on my clitorus but I just can’t react in fact it hurts.

      Any updates on your situationsad

      Thank you!

Ann, if you use the Clob cream twice a day for a week or so on your clitorus it should clear up the pain.  Whenever I have had problems with my Vjay it is usually the same as what you are experiencing.  I found the cream cleared up the problem.

Hi, I don't think it is as prominent as it was before and I have noticed that it is not as sensitive to touch as it once was.

I used the Clob on my clitoris when it felt hot, itchy and super sensitive all at the same time in that area.  I think I only needed to use it for about a week, twice a day though, and then it cleared up.  For me, Clob is when I am in crisis and thank God for it because it sorts out the problem like nothing else can.  Once I am fine I put it away and hope that I dont have to use it for a while.

Hi Guppy, sorry about my previous message. I  was using my tablet and it was giving me problems to type.

I’m sorry to ask this again... you mentioned your clitoris wasn’t as prominent.. did the club help to unfuse it at all?

Hello Kazerias, my clitorus is also basically gone and I can’t feel anything. If I’m intimate it hurts... if rubbed. I feel so depressed.

Has anything helped you to unfuse your clitoris and someone get it back?

      Help. sad

I don't believe it was or is fused now but the Clob was successful with the treatment of pain etc.  I think some women have had good results with using borax for fusing, whether that has worked for the clitoris area as well I couldn't say.  Maybe someone will chime in.  I cant use Borax because i have MCS.

The first step is to go back to your doctor, take that first step. I understand about the 'denial' technique - I put it all out of my mind for much of the time but I do see the specialist and I do treat it.  Good luck with taking that first step.

Hi Elohimrules, you really should get to a doctor.  There are things you can do to improve your situation.  The doctor will probably put you back on steroids, but there are people on this site, including me, that have found healing with baking soda baths (1/3 cup in a bathtub & soak for 20 minutes) plus swabbing or bathing with sodium borate (borax).  See the thread, "An experiment with Borax". I have had unfusing and return to plump, pink tissue.  It doesn't happen over night, in fact it took me months before the unfusing started, but others have had speedier results. Also, the hooding over your clitoris, can come unfused, although much more slowly.

One other thing, keeping things moisturized with emu or coconut oils helps immensely. Trade the oils off every week or so.

Hello Anna 7777, I was diagnosed with LS last August and I was really depressed at first. The way the doctor told me... make me think it was nothing. She told me to use a steroid but it is so annoying because I have to put the cream on during the night and can’t wipw.

Overtime my clitorus has slowly disappeared and I literally feel pain if there is much rubbing. My husband and I got imtimate and I couldn’t really feel pleasure... so all this to say I found your article so uplifting. I’m going to go buy baking soda right! Start the slprocess of healing myself. Please keep me all in your prayers because this is so scary and I feel afraid.

      Hi Anna,

You are in my prayers!  Yes, it is really scary when you first get diagnosed.  I cried for weeks when I first found out. I thought my body was slowly disintegrating and there was nothing I could do.  But then, after finding this site, I have healed, and I praise the Lord!

It’s been almost 2 years since I was diagnosed.  Now, when I examine myself, it looks like I have a normal healthy vagina again.  The only thing left to heal completely is the hooding over my clitoris.  A thin layer has peeled back (over many, many months) and when I last checked, another thin layer is opening up and peeling back.  Not sure how many layers there are to go, but in time, I know it will once again be completely open.

So I have healed with the baking soda baths, the borax saturated solution, trading off with emu and coconut oils, and rinsing with a few pinches of baking soda in a squeeze bottle after every trip to the bathroom.  I also only use cotton panties, no soap, which can be irritating, no tight pants, and I’ve even purchased toilet paper that is not bleached by chlorine bleach, which I found on line.  (There is a thread on here about the toxic effects of chlorine in bleached toilet paper. Don’t buy the recycled toilet paper, though.  It may be unbleached but it has other harmful chemicals in it.)  Meditation is important too.  It helps lower stress, and you can visualize yourself healing.

I’m not bathing in borax anymore, but I do apply the saturated solution via a spray bottle every morning and night.  Once the hooding has completely released, I will probably only use the borax solution once a day, to keep things healthy, plus the baking soda baths which I find relaxing and prevents itching.

I know I’m repeating myself when I talk about the things that help me, but there are new women coming on this site all the time, so it’s good for them to see these natural options.

So take heart - there is hope!

All the best to you, my fellow Anna.

Thank you, thank you and thank you for being so detailed and helping us all out. So there is hope... I literally had a better day today thinking I am on my way to healing..

I juSt wanted to clarify... baking soda baths are they the same thing as the borax solution? If not what is borax exactly? I looked it up and I’m thinking it’s the baking side but I wanted to make sure! I wanna get this right!

I literally have lost my clitorus and really am unable to have a climax...and this got me even more alarmed. The entire thing is so scary and upsetting. I am 40 years old and day by day I feel I am falling apart. You described my feelings exactly. Thank you for sharing your story. I am eager to getting my old healthy plump vagina back! Thank you!!!!

Any real research being done on this condition?

      Thanks Anna! wink

      Hi Anna,

No, baking soda (or bicarbonate of soda, depending on where you live) is different from Borax.  Borax is a natural mineral known as sodium borate, sodium tetraborate, or disodium tetraborate, and is a boron compound: a mineral, and a salt of boric acid.

For a baking soda bath, add 1/3 cup to a tub and soak for around 20 minutes.

For borax, a little goes a long way.  Make a saturated solution by stirring borax into any size container until the crystals no longer dissolve.  I started by swabbing on the solution with a Q-tip every morning and night.  I must be a slow healer because it took weeks for me to see any improvement, but others have seen improvement much faster.  After my healing kicked in, I started taking a bath with Borax (1/6 cup in a tub), but it’s probably not necessary to immerse your whole body in it.  A sitz bath, or just continuing to swab it on, would work just fine.

If there is any research being done on LS, I’m not aware of it. There is a doctor on line who is developing a procedure for LS that he hopes to market, and is looking for test subjects.  His video is very frightening and I wish I hadn’t watched it. It depressed me even further.  He really pushes steroids, and in my opinion, if he knew very much about LS he’d be telling women about the soothing effects of a baking soda bath. But then again, he wants to be able to market a new procedure. It’s important to do our own research and be our own advocate before blindly putting our trust is a complete stranger.

Let us know how you do!

Hello and wishing you a happy New Years!

I’m going to go buy the borax. Would I be able to buy it in line or a store that specializes in natural supplements, oils, teas.. like a health store?

I am grateful to you for everything and I’m going to find the borax and do as you described and keep everyone updated. I pray this works for me because I don’t know what else to do. The situation down there looks very unattractive and I feel like I’m no longer a women. A healthy women... a full women.

Thank you and I will keep you updated!!

where are you Anna62094?  If in the UK, you can get borax from an old fashioned Ironmongers, or possibly from independent chemists.

I wouldnt use Borax substitute (thank you EU Regulations) which isnt the same thing at all!

But if anyone can help with supplies other from trusty Amazon etc ...!

      Hi Anna,

If you are in the US you can buy Borax at a grocery store in the detergent section.  If you are in the UK, I've seen others say they've purchased it on-line.  Probably amazon.

Happy New Year to you too!!

I took my first baking soda bath. New year goal to heal myself. Thank you!!!!

      Hi Anna,

Sorry, I've been out of town for a few days.  I use the product called 20 mule team, but as long as it is sodium borate, or sodium tetraborate, it really doesn't matter which brand you use.  Just make sure it doesn't contain any additional ingredients like fragrance, etc.

Hi Anna. I’m in Canada too. I live in a large city where it’s impossible to see a vulvar dermatologist. It’s true that drs prescribe clob immediately for LS. My uryogyno never mentioned sitz baths  only to use zinc o fax as a barrier. I also use estrogen cream 2x-3x weekly.

I find the clob burns sometimes. I wish someone would find a cream or ointment that’s less irritating.

Did you have a biopsy?  I haven’t yet. I’ll see what my dr says on wed.

I’ve printed out so much info and sometimes it scares me because they mentioned cancer as a result of scarring.

anna, look for the thread called 'an experiment with borax' many women claim it has helped them enormously.

Hi Arlee thank you so much for getting back to me. When I was diagnosed the doctor casually told me and mentioned it was for life. It’s been 2 years and my vagina has changed. It doesn’t even look like the same vagina... it makes me so depressed. I only used the ointment when it burned..( usually when I use toilet paper) I was ok until lately I noticed my clitorus...well I can’t get any feelin anymore. In fact when I’m intimate .... I am in pain there. I don’t want to tell my husband because I am embarrassed. I feel so bad inside... I am always avoiding him looking directly at it. I feel so emabaressed.

I have not had a biopsy or anything ... I have started to see a new doctor and I will eventually work up the courage to show him and see what he recommends.

I’m going to try the borax and other stuff kindly suggested. I’m so glad I have found you guys. I thought I was alone. This is such a terrible thing.. I mean the deformation is what scares me the most. I’ve heard women say their vaginas have closed. I’m afraid. I want to reverse my vagina. The skin looks Teri le and it’s not plump and healthy looking anymore. Anna7777 gave me hope! She gave me spirit to keep trying.

I am not sure if I have answered your questions or just rambled on. Forgive me.

Can you tell me what your doctor says?

Hi again, you mentioned estrogen. What does that do? Why do you use it?

Who recommended and does it help?

      Sorry for the loaded email!!!

Anna sorry again... I looked up borax and I see it all the time. Is this product safe to sprinz down there..? I wasn’t sure...... just want to double check with you.

Hi Anna I’ve been using estrogen inserted vaginally   for a few years now. I have atrophy - dryness.  I felt good until this past June when I had terrible burning. The dr changed my estrogen a few times. In October she told me I have LS due to changes. Honestly I don’t notice any change. I never really checked before this - now it’s all the time.  Don’t be embarrassed to show the dr. That’s what they’re there for.

I will let you know what the dr says. It’s the third time I’m going with this problem. I want to see a vulvar dermatologist but she won’t take new patients.  It’s a viscous circle  but at least we have this board!

My LS specialist tells me not to use it but I know people on this site have had good results - they dilute it very carefully of course.  I'd be interested to learn of anyone using it with their specialist's approval. Maybe I'll post that as a discussion topic, thinking about it.  All best wishes.

Hi Anna, if it's just plain sodium borate (or sodium tetraborate) it's fine.  Just don't get something with any additional additives.  To start, I'd recommend swabbing on the saturated solution with a Q-tip every morning and night and see how it goes. When you're swabbing it on, you can get to every little nook and cranny. When you begin to see improvement, you can try soaking in a bath or spritzing it on.  I'm at the point now where I just spritz it on twice a day (Plus baking soda rinses after visiting the bathroom, and of course coconut and emu oils - very important to keep things moisturized.)

Anna I’m sorry I haven’t answered. I was at the gyno last week. I was tested for yeast and it was positive so I’m using an internal cream for 6 days. No clob while using it. I use estrogen because of atrophy - dryness. I have burning and pain as well.

My dr said I’m not firmly convinced it’s LS. What the heck?  I’m all confused now and will need to go back.

What I really want is a vulvar clinic  none where I live which is ridiculous because I’m in a big city.
