LS and Thrush

I am a bit of an old bird now! I turned 60 last year. However, I don't look it, and get away with being mid 50's. Unfortunately diagnosed with LS recently. Sex was always a problem and I thought it was thrush I was immediately getting. However, it turned out to be LS. But I still get uncontrolled thrush as well. The Dermovate ointment which I have to use daily at the moment gives me thrush! Can anyone help with an alternative. I am so very sore and depressed.

I have been having thrush and also bacterial infections over several weeks just last month and didn't know till I finally went to specialist in despair thinking it was my LP. Have been having symptoms of intense burning and raw weeping lesions. Seems I have had it a while. Swabs showed both and I was treated with AB and Fluconazole single oral tab. The tablet effects lasts for two or three weeks according to specialist. The thrush comes back though so I need to take the Fluconazole monthly. Specialist said the creams will aggravate everything.
I am intolerant to Clobestasol and any steroid with the ointment base, but my expensive specialist who charges $240 and I travel a four hour trip for 15 minutes just keeps telling me to persevere, will not try me on any of the other alternatives mentioned on these sites and tells me she will do a patch test in winter! It's just turned summer here .... She has me on prednisone high doses for three months to tolerate the pain, comes with its own set of problems.
Now I have a new GP (had to change as mine left) and she knows loads about LP and LS. She put me on to mometesone 0.1 mg with no alcohol and after four days I can see and feel the difference.
Over the months I have tried many remedies and soothing measures and many are life savers.
Best tips from this site:
Washing area after peeing, either just water, baking soda, salt.
Bath soaking luke warm bath with any of above
Drying area well before applying anything.
using a flour to prevent labia sticking together, during the day after creams but especially at night. I use potato flour.
Emollient or pure oils or medicated creams or coconut oil etc to prevent drying out.
Changed all washing powders soaps, cleansers, shampoo and anything that touches my body to organic.
Stone cold stopped obvious sugars, glutens and dairy, coffee and caffeine and in my case the whole nightshade family as my LP has now gone to include oral. That's another story. But any sugars I get the burn within two hours, some things you just don't realise have too much sugars like some fruits are loaded. So sad not to be able to eat pounds of blueberries right now.
Positive note: have lost 15 kgs since food regime began in July and four or so health problems have improved dramatically. IBS, reflux disease, back pain, chance of type 2 diabetes gone from possible to no chance.
New Years resolution to myself,
think positively, stress less, find other activities outside the house and engage more with people and have fun.
I am 70 and only diagnosed last year. It's been a huge life changer. And this support group has been all I had to help me understand what professionals don't or can't know or have no time to research. It's the little things in the end.
So thanks everyone for your kindness.
Bless you all and healthy New Year!

thanks for your message. I will speak to the doctor about the cream. In agony tonight as LS has also framed up. I have lumps down there which are extremely painful. I also have the thrush which won't go despite using 2 diflocan tablets and now I am trying Canesten pessary.
I have a cold pack there, and taken pain killers. Praying that I can get to Tuesday to see doctor.
:-(
Thank you everyone for your support. It really helps that there are people out there, who know what it's like.
Happy New Year to you All.

Hello everyone, I realise I'm pretty late to this discussion but I was wondering if you had found any solution? I'm 26 and have been given a sort of pre-diagnosis for LS (Doc: I think it's LS, use dermovate and come back in a year to check). Anyway I have the same issue in that when I'm using dermovate I almost always get thrush, and then it's difficult to get rid of the thrush while continuing with dermovate, but if I stop with the dermovate everything goes back to square one with itching and soreness/redness in the skin. Any advice?
