LS around the anus

Hi, I've had LS for 9 years and it has been well-controlled with betnovate a couple of times a week and cetra Ben every day. But now I think I have around the anus, very sore and the doctor I saw said there was a small split, which accounted for the bit of bleeding. I also have a history of colitis and I had thought that was the problem though it wasn't typical. She told me to use haemorrhoid cream! But they all have lanolin in which I'm allergic to, so I have just been using vase line, which doesn't really help. Then I had a light bulb moment and realised it is probably the LS appearing in a new place. I had stopped using the betnovate recently as I'd had no vulval itching and thought I'd give it a rest.

My question is does anyone else suffer LS in this area and how do they deal with it? Going to the loo is a nightmare and leaves me very sore.

Chris

Yes, many of us do and there have been previous discussions about this. I had colitis as well, and had my large intestine removed, hence I have many more bowel movements than most people which I feel exacerbates the problem. I use the clob 3 times/week at this point and made my own infused oil for daily use. My dermatologist said to use the clob in that area as well. I've had to cuts in the anus thus far that they call Fissures. Hope this is helpful. It is painful, no doubt.

    Hi

yes I get my LS in both front and back passages. Its been very active around my anus for about the past 6 months and it had never really bothered me there before. My doctor told me it lives in a figure of 8 around the vagina and anus. When I have a bad flare up in both areas I apply steroid cream to both and when its just the anus I apply it to that area every night until the itch has died down. The rest of the time when I have no itching I apply an oil based cream by Yes with borax powder I mix into it and apply it to my front and back passage morning and night , every day, forever...!

Thank you folks, very helpful. I have some of the Yes oil-based gel, but normally use the water-based one for lubrication but will try using the oil-based one to soothe the soreness. Not really itching which is why I hadn't twigged what the problem was.

I bought the water based one originally but then tried the oil based one and it's so perfect. I can't be without it now.

Same here, I had anal fissures for years and botox injections to help them heal - it was the surgeon who did that who first spotted the LS! Now I take glycerin suppositories to make sure I don't tear and I use the clob anally as well as on vulva. I'm in much better shape than I was a few years ago, thank goodness. Best wishes.

I'm very grateful for your replies, it's put my mind at rest now I've pretty much confirmed what it is causing the problem. After 2 nights of using betnovate on the area and lots of cetra ben in the daytime, I already feel much better. Thanks.

Hi Karen, I'm glad to hear your problem has cleared up. Mine is now fine too, and I have now come down to using the betnovate just twice a week and it is keeping all in check. Plenty of cetra ben during the daytime too.
