LS is a dysfunction of our immune system

Hi Ladies, I have had LS for about 2 years and I am 73 yrs old.  For awhile I have been taking a probiotic supplement (Culturelle) and I think it has helped my LS to get better.  It is supposed to support immune function.  I am wondering what else might help our immune systems?  Thanks for all the support in this forum.

Home made water Kefir is good. It is like taking a bucket full of probiotics, especially as there is a link between thrush and LS for many women.  Vitamin D is also worth taking, many people are lacking Vit D and its an important vitamin, as it supports your immune system, and many people with autoimmune conditions have found to be deficient in Vitamin D. And lastly, one other important thing is Organic foods, try to eat Organic if you can.

"Water Kefir (pronounced keh-FEER) is not as well known as milk kefir. But it is the same concept - symbiotic grains of bacteria and yeast that ferment a specific liquid - in this case, a sugar-water-fruit liquid. It produces a mild, light and refreshing, slightly carbonated beverage"

I cut and pasted that for you if you just Google it you will see how it is made; you should be able to buy it at health shops or online.  Milk Kefir is more well known, but I am dairy intolerant which is why I made the water Kefir.

hi , I have been reading that the gut is your second brain !. So probiotics are a definite  . Also  your gut has a membrane it is very fine to stop toxins from going through and causing problems in other sites in your body  . If  the membrane gets damaged it causes big holes for  toxins , parasites etc to travel to other parts of the body causing all sorts of problems which don't show up in blood tests !. Rose hip is water soluble and acts like a sponge towards toxins , heavy metals drawing them out of the body !. Then L-glutamine heals the leaky gut so that only nutrients can be absorbed !. That is why you can be very tired with leaky gut ! And the Dr will tell you , you have got me !!. Also hormones are connected with Ls ! So if you don't already have a thiroid problem then sea kelp will regulate the thyroid it is slightly out !. All skin conditions are the by product of a toxic , unbalanced body ! So by changing your diet and balancing  systems it cannot survive !. Anyone with eczema knows if under stress the first thing that happens is that they itch !

I've been eating naturally fermented sauerkraut daily in addition to the yogurt I make with local organic milk. Can't hurt.

Where do you buy this culturelle ? At the supermarket? I have had LS for 7 years & am interested in foods to avoid & those to eat to help your immune system. I ahve asthema , hayfever & exceme & also lost pigmentation on my legs which the doctor says is due to my immune system breaking down. I can't take penicilin either. So anything that might help my immune system would be good. I had a hysterectomy at 27 and was never given any hormaone replacement even though i had one overy cut out and only a bit of one left. I wonder if this also lead to my LS. I'm 65 now & don't want my immune system to get worse. Anyone have any ideas regarding diet for me ?
