Lumbar Nerve Compression

Good afternoon,   I have been getting a Prickly / Tingly feeling in my right leg, I dont really have any pain just this weird feeling 24/7, sometimes my right thigh gets really hot and i have to change postion so it cools down, I spoke to my doctor who said that its probally a herniated disc touching on the nerve most probally caused by riding my motorbike everyday, the doctor has prescribed me Amitriptyline and told me to comeback if it get worse and he would send me for an MRI. ow long is the recovery? Is there anything i can do in the meantime to help with the recovery? Exersises, Swimming, Wearing a Lumbar Brace etc

I do have an appointment with an ostopath this Saturday so i will discuss it with them.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

David

    David,

after the results are in FRIM UR MRIthere are many options available to repair a herniated disc. Very painful to deal with as the day goes by it gets worse.

i finally had surgery to remove the tissue leaking out of the disc causing nerve pain.

i was instantly relieved. It was a bio injection. Really felt like a new person.

Hope that u find relief soon.

Hi David, swimming on your back, float, Butterfly, etc might make you

feel better. Anything is worth a try, right? But a word to the wise....any

physical activity you do that might further encroach upon that disc is

going to irritate and aggravate an already unpleasant situation. Right now you have numbness and tingling......next comes Sciatic pain and that

is awfull. I would try a back brace with good support, if I were you (and I was in your shoes prior to surgery in November). The movements you

want to avoid are twisting at the waist and bending. Also you might feel better if you don't lift anything too heavy....it puts pressure on the spine. As for my experience, I had your symptoms as well as constant Sciatic Nerve pain in both legs any time I stood up or walked. I lived on

Ibuprophen every 6 hrs. I hope this helped. Good luck. I wish you well.

So here's a bit of an update,

I went to the Osteopath on the weekend but unfortunatly he couldnt find anything phiscally wrong with my spine shape and didnt know what could be causing the sensations but advised it was probally neurological. I went back to the docs on Monday who advised me to up my dose of Amitriptyline from 1 to 2 tablets per night and refered me to an Orthopaedic Consultant on the 13/04/2015. Im starting to think this could be something else, the reason i say this is because this prickly feeling i am getting moves around,  it's not just isolated to my legs it also moves up to my arms, surely if there was something in my lumbar region the prickly feeling would only be in my back or lower extremities. What could this be?

    Symptoms;

Pricky Feeling in arm & legs

    Feeling Tired

    No other symptoms

    Kind regards

    David

Well here we are, another year later and i still have the same problem. It did disappear for a while but now its back in full force, these prickly sensations are truly annoying. Had an new lumber CT Scan which showed inflamation in the spine so docs sending me to get some Cortisone injections next month or at least talk about getting them done with the consultant.
