Hello, I am 53 yrs old and I have many symptoms that suggest ms. I was 22 years old when I became paralyzed from the legs down fingers and toes become draswn up where I could not use them. Went to the hospital and they suggested Reaumatoid Arthritis, which got tested for rheaumatoid, lupus and it wasnt either. Gave me maybe steroid shot or something similr can't remember what they gave me. Those symptoms gradually went away a week or so. I've had differnt bouts numbness feet legs arms. fingers toes. By the way, I do have carpal tunnel. I have the ms hug sometimes I feel like a snake or something is sqeezing the life out of me. 1 year ago started losing memory I went to neuro thought maybe dementia. It wasnt. Took some test with neuro phycologists he suggested that maybe ms but I needed to to get more tests from the neuro. I id find out I had carpal tunnel while doing emg. I realize a doctor cant diagnose without further testing. I did have mri then as well some white matter. Wants me to cme back and do another mri. I would like to get a lumbar puncture to know if I have ms or something so I don't feel like I'm crazy. By the way, I do have a n appt. with pychiatrist in Nover Thats how far out my dr is booked. The nurse told me she would put me on the waiting list for an earlier appt. I am tired all the time. It's like a debiliating fatigue. These symptoms are not all the time sometimes I can go for a couple month's to a year with symptoms almost gone. I am exhausted physically and mentally. I just would some answers. Depression sometimes is really been alot lately. I am on some depression meds. I do know at one time when I did'nt take these meds I probably would be in a phyciatric hospital. It's probably time for my meds to be upped or switched. I am sorry for babbling on I just want some advice.

I am so sorry for your protracted diagnosis--or should I say, lack of it? But the fact that when you were young you had your fingers and toes crab-like to the point of paralysis--back then did they consider relapsing=remitting?    I find that so hard to believe.  I am 51-- when I was 34, I hadn't heard of MS being relapsing-remitting and it was only that my doctor's appointment for the parasthesia was in a hospital's MS clinic when I found out!

What country is this website coming from, by the way?  I live in Canada but thought this website was British at first.

It's useful for all of us to hear from people from different countries, as well as from our own. So, really, it's simply an English language site.
