Lumbar puncture

Headache after spinal tap, how can I get rid of it? I've been drinking lots of water and taking Advil. I had no leakage from my wound. My neurologist also told me my fluid was clear and looked like water. If it comes back negative what does this mean?

Myelogram (lumbar puncture) causes what are known as traction headaches. The condition is caused by causing a loss of equilibrium between the normal pressure inside of the spinal cord and outside the spinal cord. The headaches will cease when the puncture site fully heals and pressure returns to normal. For me it took about two weeks.

In the meantime you nerd to remain flat on your back. Everytime I raised my head the pain would return and when I laid down it went away.

Not sure there is any pain med (opioid ir otherwise) that will overcome the pain in a standing position. They will however add to your confusion, dizzyness and foggy feeling in conjuction with to pain.

Wish ai could be more helpful but the spinal cords was wounded and it must be given time to geal.
