    Hi Wayne,

The injections are hit or miss. Mines was a miss.

With what is showing up on your scan I'd suggest that surgery is the only way forward. Have you had Physio, acupuncture etc etc?

My only reservation would be that you seem to have issues in different areas of the lumbar spine and thoracic. What would the op entail? Has this been discussed with you?

Hi Scott thanks for the reply I have had physio but the area had become to sore they have opted to stop physio going back to doctors tomorrow to discuss more options including pain relief which I'm struggling I seen a professor in orthopaedics but he never went into the operation part just said he would give me one go at the injection scary thought about a possible operation

      Hi Wayne,

Op's are not as scary as they once were. I've been through 3 for my spine and recovered from each of them. Still in recovery from my 3rd.

Make sure you ask specifically what they are proposing to do. What are the outcomes and success and failure rates. Is it multiple levels or one at a time and multiple Op's? Given you have three areas of concern what will he do? Recovery times etc.

It's better to take someone with you as you will most definitely forget half of what is conveyed.

Good luck and keep us posted on what they say.

Been back to normal go today pain is slightly worse today than yesterday dr has upgraded my meds to 150 mg of palexia Sr twice daily as now advised against all physio basically rest till see specialist next Thursday the doctor thinks I'll require surgery to trim the discs both L4/L5/S1 he said to make sure specialist knows how much pain I'm in and the surgery should be done pretty quick spoke to the physio today he couldn't believe that all this has happened so quickly and normally people wait months and months to just get to where I'm at now

What about yourself where are you from was at the physio today he said there was nothing more he could do but said he had never heard of anyone being seen to and had as much treatment as I have in such a short space of time I can't believe how debilitating the pain is but I literally walked to the toilet and back and was in bed in agony for 2 hrs

I'm in the uk. It's a slow process over here but my last op was very quickly appointed. I've had 3 surgeries the last being a fusion of L4-S1 via the stomach (ALIF). 13 weeks post op but still in pain. Physio is tough going as I have a lot of nerve damage from previous surgeries and bulging discs that were "fixed" like you're going for.

Good luck. As I said take someone with you so you remember everything!

Do you have any sleeping tips it's a real struggle for me to sleep get comfortable my hip area seems the worst at night

I sleep on my left side with a pillow between my knees. If that doesn't work, I'm on my back. I'm also on a lot of meds so they help me drift off. Have you tried Diazepam??

I have had 5 back surgeries. Febuary 2010 i had a lumbar laminectomy on L3-L4-L5. unfortunately i needed another surgery dec 2010. Had the same thing done. April 2013 i had a microdisectomy on my L5-S1. Then september 2015 i had a Laminectomy on L3-L4-L5. had 2 weeks relief and on june 15 of this year i had a Spinal fusion from L3-S1 and a decompression Laminectomy. I have spinal steonsis, Degenerative Disc Disease, 2 tears, bulging discs and sciatica issues the whole 9 yards.. (just because i had multiple surgeries doesn't mean you will! this is just my experience, so please don't think you will need multiple! my back is just really bad... my doctor told me i have a back of an 80 year old) Beofre i had my first surgery, i was trying to avoid it. But i couldn't walk at all and i just couldn't avoid it. The surgeries DID help me and i was able to walk and felt much better. If they talk about surgery, think about it. It may help you. I made sure i did a lot of research on the surgeries i got. Do you know what kind of surgery they would be doing if you went for it?? I hope you feel better! <3 <3
