lumps in thigh for two weeks.

Hi, has anyone else ever had lumps come up in the front top of the thigh ?  There are two of them and they feel small, deep and hard.  They don't hurt normally, but are uncomfortable if pressed.  Not damaged that area, and they don't even show above the skin.  Only noticed because the first lump stang momentarily so I looked and felt around.  They have got a little bigger, but still not above the skin.    I have psoriatic arthritis and had malignant melanoma a year ago,, but am ok now.  Any advice would be appreciated.  Would rather avoid the doctors !  Thanks.

Hi Meer, no I haven't had any of those symptoms. I really think you should see your doctor though, none of us are medically qualified, it would be better for peace of mind xx

Thanks Susan for coming back.  I am still hoping someone will  say they had it due to medication or some such thing, and that it will go away by its self !  Hopeful, I  know , but I feel like I have lived at the doctors over the past year, so would rather not go again with yet another problem.  I will take your advice soon, but just need to work up the courage to go again, x

Oh, I get it!! I know where you are coming from without actually saying it x.. If you were my husband/partner, I'd march you down there myself! I've spent so much time at Hospitals this year too, one being a cancer scare. When I felt something wasn't right,I didn't hesitate! It may be something simple, but you can't leave it! Are you in the UK?

    Regards

Hi Susan, yes I  am in the U.K, and yes I know it is a little wimpey , but  I am beginning to feel like a regular in the waiting room.  Sorry to hear about your scare and although it doesn't help you, all I can say is I sympathize and wish you all the best and know exactly how you feel.  It's hard to express that although we all greatly appreciate doctors and nurses, given the choice I personally never want to see one again !  Also, ;you are right  in that if my husband knew, he would be booking the appointment for me, but in an attempt to reduce his stress levels I just haven't mentioned this latest problem as it seems to be an ongoing catalog of issues needing treatment.  Oh for a healthy body, ! x

Hi Meer, yes I'm with you on that. As if it doesn't rain it pours they say. In the middle of all of it, I ruptured on of my achilles tendons and was in a boot for 8 weeks, ha ha. That's the PsA though, it effects my tendons. I forgot to ask what meds you are on? Could it be that?

Hi Sue, apologies for delay in reply.  I have also been a bit naughty with meds (without telling the doctor) as I have cut them down so I only take a third of the amount and am now only on diclofenec and omeprozole.  The only reason I did this was because I was getting massive problems with acid reflux and an ulcerated throat, mouth and tongue and even doubling the stomach protector as suggested only worked whilst I did it.  As a result I decided to reduce and finally cut out all medication and try an anti-inflammatory diet (not going great with pain, but I will keep trying !  ).  Fairly sure that wouldn't cause lumps in my leg, but you never know..   Not much fun all these muscle and tendon problems is it.

What are you on. methotrexate? sulfasalazine?

I also take Omeprazole and Naproxen. Although I try not to take the Naproxen if I can help it... I was on tablet Metho, then injection but the side effects were horrible, I took myself off it in March and informed the specialist  nurse and asked to be considered for something else. It's taken months, but five weeks ago I started on a biologic. Early days, but the signs are so far good.

Have you done anything about the lumps? GP, Specialist? I really hope you have...............

Hi Sue, now on nothing at all as have tapered out everything !  Not sure it was right decision as is painful and new joints hurt and are swollen that weren't before, but I will continue at present as acid reflux better and also dropping weight - result.  Lumps slightly bigger, but not much and only one hurts and even then only when pressed (so I'm not pressing it).   Cold damp weather not helping much, do you feel it more when weather changes too ?

Hi Sue, finally addressed lumps and saw nurse today.  Great news, just fatty lumps and nothing sinister - phew.  Not doing so well with pain control and no meds, but like you said it is a juggling game, but may have to go back on them as not going quite as well as I had hoped.  Still, can't have everything.  Really appreciate your back up, it helps to talk to other people who know just how frustrating the whole thing is.  Keep well,  all the best, x

Wow! That's great news, bet you are glad you went now. So pleased it's not anything sinister, I've thought about you quite a bit, I must have missed your post the other day., sorry. Now hopefully you can focus on the PsA. I've been on a biologic for 9 weeks, there certainly seems to be some improvement. It's not for pain though, still have to take meds for that, but any improvement is good.

Hope you get some relief soon, it's an awful disease...

    Sue xx
