Hi. Im 42 yrs old and have been suffering for over a year now. I recently lost 50 lbs on purpose. It started when I started feeling a lump in my throat. a few weeks later the top of my stomach began burning. then regurgitating foods. If I dont eat, I get bloated with tons of pressure in my abdomen. Feelings of burping but cant. now its all the same but i can burp if i flex my stomach muscles a certain way. Throat is still swollen but now lots of mucous. sinus is full of mucous too. Ears hurt and lots of pressure. recently its gotten better but now Im feeling dizzy and headaches often. i feel like I'm dying. Its making me very depressed. I began meditating and relaxing more. doctor said he thinks i have allergies. I dont think thats it. pineapple used to kind of calm it or make me burp. Ive taken probiotics. super high quality digestion suppliments. Licorice root. all the OTC meds make acid which i dont feel normally. I'M AT MY WHITS end. sometimes i feel liike giving up on life from this.

So sorry to hear you have all these problems and I, along with all the others, understand all too well what you are going through. But take heart, as there are so many helpful ideas from others who have replied to you. I'm sure diet has been an issue for me and know that when I cut certain things from my diet I do start to feel better. The thing that bothers me is whether I really do need the ppi's. I have tried to drop them off a few times but the last time I left them off for a week I had the most awful burning and pain in my stomach I just had to start taking them again. They reduce stomach acid but what if you have low stomach acid? I was utterly amazed how many people are suffering from this and although I feel for everyone else who I've read about on this site It does make you feel you're not alone. I wish you well.

I know how you feel. I am still going through it. Got diagnosed with Acid Reflux and Later GERD four months ago and I have had this for exactly six months now. It started out as a mere burning pressure on my chest and I also regurgitated anything and everything I ate. This made me feel as sh*tty as can be and doctors put me on Ranitidine and Omerprazole, both of which only served to give me terrible headaches. I've started dieting, eating mostly boiled and unsalted veggies (of ALL kinds) and chicken or fish. Even soups are easier to digest and very helpful. I am slowly working my way back to a normal diet but I have replaced things like coffee and ceylon tea with water and apple cider vinegar, as well as Rooibos, Chamomile, and Jasmine tea. I am feeling much better than I felt during the first few months of my illness but I still feel like something is stuck in my throat and right lung. Also get jaw and back pain from time to time. My doctor (or at least the last one I saw) suggested exercise and breathing exercises as well. I am working around saving up for yoga classes and maintaining my current diet of boiled, mashed, and pureed foods. Keep working at it and don't give up. As long as you are doing all that's needed for your health, eventually things will return to their proper place. Good luck.

I don't take either medications since they made me feel worse and gave me headaches. I've just been doing breathing exercises to help with the lump in my throat. Also drinking apple cider vinegar water often. It seems to help.

Check to see if you have a sliding hiatal hernia, where as part of the stomach finds its' way up under the diaphram. The right kind of chiropractor or body worker can check and pull it down again. There are also some self help videos on youtube. After my stomach was put into place, I felt like I could breathe like never before, and I stood taller, too. And, you can imagine how it impacts bloating. Just a note, some methods are gentler than others on youtube. I have a practioner in CA who is mid-way between gentle and momentarily painful. I also do some of the exercises at home, and I raised the head of my bed 6 inches. All the best.

    Hi John

Did you get anywhere with your enquiries?

I have had a very similar experience as you. First the feeling of a lump near my larynx when swallowing. A few weeks later came a feeling of fullness in my upper abdomen and shallow breathing. Then (weirdly) difficulty burping after a fizzy drink and finally acid reflux type symptoms.

I've tried fasting for a few days and that didn't seem to help.

I've booked an appointment with an ENT but the waiting list is huge and I can't get in for 2 months. If he comes up with anything I'll report back.
