Lungs injury

7 yr old child was under lympoma treatment for the past 1 yr. He was diagonsed with lymphoma in interstinal part and was under chemo treatment at a frequency for 8 cycles. After his 8th cycle he developed a sort of oxygen desaturation in this blood. He was then imediately recomanded for a oxygen requirement which was supplied through a high flow oxygen accesory. This continued for a period of 1 week or so and finally his oxygen requirment was so high that he was put under vendillation. As of now he was in vendilated condition for continous 27 days. Doctors say X ray of his lungs is not showing any improved signs. They suspect it might be due to the drug induced effect from chemo medicine. Now his oxygen blood saturation has come down to 30s and is on full medicine suport for maintaining blood pressures. Meantime he continued to develp pnemothorax in his lungs whichwas kept on draining. Can anybody give me a healthy suggestion/advice on the lungs condition.

    Hello

This child sounds extremely ill. He is being treated for cancer, which has taken an extreme toll on his system, the treatment also has taken a toll and predominently his lungs have suffered, but also, in all likelihood his entire body.

He is being artificially ventilated with a machine, which is keeping him alive. (due to the extreme low oxygen levels and BP you indicate in your post) He requires drainage of fluid buildup as well.

After a month there is no improvement. This means for one month, at least,  he is incapable of sustaining himself due to his body's inability to function well.

I would highly suggest you speak with the specialists in what is best for this child.

His situation, as presented here by yourself, sounds dire.

I wish not to sound insensitive, only to speak to the facts as you have presented here.

His specialists should be prepared to inform his family of the severe state of his condition, not me.

Shinaj, my heart goes out to you, your son and your family. On this site we're folks with particular medical conditions. We aren't medical practitioners. As another person said, your son's doctor is the person to consult.

I wish you all the best.

Hi shinaja, can't advise at all as its not related to COPD your probably better off searching for a more appropriate discussion forum.

My understanding and I am not medical professional,  blood oxygen saturation in 30s would mean organ failure, I am thinking you are talking of something else but not o2 sats.    Your sons doctors and specialist are bound to be the best people to speak to concerning your son's lung condition and how this may affect his future health etc.  just ask the medical professionals to explain things to you.

In the discussion search box on the right of this page put in anything related to you son's condition to see if it has been discussed in other discussion forums.

Also top right to find information on medical conditions on patient UK.

Here is discussion search on lympoma https://patient.info/search.asp?searchterm=lympoma&searchcoll=Discuss_Forums

    and pnemothorax https://patient.info/search.asp?searchterm=pnemothorax&searchcoll=Discuss_Forums

Do hope your son recovers well and his treatment is successful.

    Best wishes V
