I start a new job next Monday and wonder if this medication will get in my system and will I see any improvement. Constipation is a problem.

    Hello Newie

Antidepressants take 4 to 8 weeks before it takes effect.....

I hope you feel better soon

    Hi Lee,

Thanks for the information. I must admit I was very worried starting this medication, but know its for the good. do you think the side effects will maybe get better after being on it for 8 days, the day before I start my new job?

    Dear Newie

No one knows for sure.....I do hope for your sake that it will.....especially that you are starting a new job.

My own experience....and everyone is different,..... was that I got worse before I got better....Some people think that their depression is getting worse when first taking SSRIs, but it is not....it is the SSRI that you are taking that is making things worse, but as time goes by 4 to 8 weeks....it will kick in.... and you will feel just fine......

I am just hoping that in your case, and everyone's case for that matter....it will kick in faster.

Please do not be frightened, it will get better...fear is normal when you feel so bad....but the fear only makes things worse...Know that it will kick in....and then you will stablize.

    Love

Lee, Thank you, I never thought such a small tablet could knock me off kilter...

I am sitting trying to get rid of this terrible feeling in my stomach, and trying to say to myself it will get better.

I am hoping tonight will get better and day 4 will be better for me.

I am so pleased that you've replied, as its comforting that you are not alone in this situation, which would b believe only started for me when I lost my job last November.

Any ideas or suggestions anyone to get rid of this terrible feeling in my stomach?

    Dear Newie

Can you tell me why you are taking this in the first place? Have you been on other SSRIs before?

    Hi Lee,

The reason the Dr has put me on it for my anxiety and worry, also my mood has been low. The doctor also gave me propranolol 40mg 2 times a day, I stopped using them as I though it best to get this new medication in my system.

Hopefully they work for this type of condition?

    Dear newie

Can you control your anxiety and worry....is it very bad that you must take an antipressant.

If it is very bad and you feel you need to take an antidepressant.....seeing that you have been on it for only a few days....maybe you should stop taking it...until you are in your new job and settled there....and then maybe re-start the medication again at a later date.

The antidepressant most likely will not kick in for 4 to 8 weeks....if you continue to feel so badly on it...these symptoms you are going through will leave you when you stop taking it.....at least you will be able to cope somewhat and hold on to this new job....

I am sorry that I can't help you.....I wish I could....There are other things you can take for anxiety and there are psychologist, self help groups who can help you with it too....without having to take antidepressants....Just a thought.

I wish you well newie....believe me I know what you are going through....life is not easy...

    Much love
