Lymphocytes

Hi

I have recently had a full blood count which has shown my lymphocytes are slightly raised (3.5, with the upper normal range being 3), which I'm not especially worried about as its only slightly raised, but looking back at various tests over 3 years my lymphocytes are always slightly raised. My CRP was also slightly raised at 17 (I did not feel like I had a cold at the time). The others were generally normal, except my MCVs and MCHs were a bit low, but Hb was normal.

Do some people just run with a slightly raised lymphocyte count or is this something I should be hassling my doctor about?

Vickya, you can relax! The "normal range" for lymphocyte counts varies with age, and with exactly which reference book you are looking at! Mine gives it as 0.8-4.8, so 3.5 is still comfortably within the range. Especially since it's been at about this number for years, it's perfectly fine. Get back to living your life and don't give it another thought.

Hi Sassysuz, that's pretty high, tho it's good it is not increasing steeply. Depending on your symptoms (if any) and your age, you might want to ask your doc about a referral to a hematologist, just to rule out any possible more serious issues.
