My doctor wants to put me on Lyrica. I have read a lot about it but I'm curious if any of you have tried it and if it helped at all.
Thanks so much!

Kathy it depends why you've been prescribed it. I have fibromyalgia as well as chronic pancreatitis and it was for the fibromyalgia that it was prescribed not CP. I've read a lot about it too and know many who've been prescribed it and very few had a good result with a mixed bag of negatives. For me it seemed to work for the fibromyalgia but everyone told me my personality changed, that I'd lost my empathy. Initially I didn't agree but after only a month on the drug even I agreed and I stopped it. That was several years ago and whilst I have no clue what medicos would say about this I still don't think my personality has righted itself and I'd describe myself as being extremely pragmatic now. Given I did a lot of voluntary work in the caring industry that's not a good thing. If it's for pancreatitis pain there are better options that don't change the brain chemistry. It's up to you so just be careful and mindful of side effects if you opt to take it. And make sure those close to you know you're taking it in case things get weird.
