It MIGHT!...The key wording here is "might". One must be careful of the amount of magnesium they take as a supplement. You'd be surprised at the amounts of magnesium in foods & you wouldn't even know it. If you take too much of the supplement, you could wind up with the runs.

What type of bp meds are you on? Are the meds controlling the bp?

    Hi Anthony

I haven't tried Magnesium but if you'd like to give a natural alternative a try I've been using Hibiscus tea and seeing very good results, it seems to have no side effects for me and is working well to maintain a low controlled BP, I've been doing it for about 8 mths now. It's worth a try, of course everything doesn't work for everyone.

I make a teapot full every couple days and refridgerate and drink thru out the day, I often add 1/4 gingerale as it is a bit tart

The correct magnesium levels in the modern diet are becoming increasingly more difficult to attain. As with many supplements you also need to thoroughly research the impact of taking one in isoaltion of others. Folk with high blood pressure may also have impaired kidney function. In this case hence you should avoid taking more than 350 mg/day of supplemental magnesium without medical consultation. Generally speaking it is an extremely useful supplement in supporting heart and hypertension.
