Hi angelina it can take about two hours and really depends on the person, you will have to be mighty fast getting to the toilet as you only have a few seconds when magnesium starts to work, my thoughts and regards are with you, john,

Omg you are right i just ran to my bathroom . I think i will stay here a bit thanks for your response cause i am feeling really bad

Sorry for the late response, it should 'dilate' or open the muscles it touches almost immediately, which is why its at the very end / next morning of the colonoscopy process when your system is already empty / clean as a whistle to allow the colonoscopy process to go smoother (because it dilates your intestinal tract).

So if you have anything in your stomach, it will stop where the food is at, and will not work as a laxative (or at least very effectively), I'd use the ducolax laxitive tablets (not stool softeners) if your looking for a bowel emptying solution.

Hope that makes sense, good luck and stay near a toilet!

i used this yesterday and it was disgusting my tummy felt extremely full and i felt so sick. i have been having a lot of issues with my stomach and two ago i went to the hospital after x-ray was taken the doctor said and please excuse me that there was a lot of poop. today i am eating different and so far my stomach does not feel heavy or uncomfortable. i know one thing i have to buy loose fitting pants and around the waist.

Yes after so many attacks, I don't bother wearing anything tight fitting unless I have to, even when my stomach isn't upset. Hope your pain gets better soon, I know for me it was like a week or so gauntlet of shocking pain down my rectum / testicles / urethra / up my chest / everywhere. It was terrible.

A heating pad seemed to help along with warm soup broths, I am not big into tea but apple ciders and warm drinks would also help, I still drink those today out of habit / fear of that pain ever returning.

I think they cut all of the diverticula out of me during my emergency surgery, but I'll only know when I get my next colonoscopy in a few weeks to confirm that before my colostomy reversal surgery.

i am still feeling bad with the cramping its too much and i cant deal with it. you go to these hospitals and they send you home and you do not feel any better.

The same thing happened to me the first micro-perf / attack I had, they sent me home after IV antibiotics for 4-5 days, and I had the two oral AB's and it just hurt like unbelievable hell.

I honestly thought the pain was going to kill me from shock, I literally came out of that week of pain with erectile dysfunction from the shocking horrible pain, just know that you will live through it but there is unfortunately nothing that will make it better except for time 😦

I know that sucks to hear, but all you can do is buckle down with a heating pad on your tummy, and wait it out for about 4-5 days and it should start to go better.

I so feel for you, I went through that same thing, it was the worst pain I'd ever felt until I had an abscess rupture, that was a whole new level of pain I didn't know could exist. I am surprised I survived all of it, but I guess I am not fully out of the woods yet.

Good luck and I hope you feel better soon, just keep a very light to liquid diet, a heating pad on your tummy, and maybe an epsom salt bath if you can get in and out ok to help stop the muscle spasms.
