Magnesium post surgery

Hi All - i note that a lot of people have been prescribed with magnesium post surgery. What is this for and is it helpful? I have heard lots of different meds mentioned, but never magnesium. Anyone in UK take this or is it mainly our friends further afield?

    Hi Jilly

It wasn't prescribed just suggested on this forum due to problems sleeping and weird sensations in operated leg at night in bed. It worked very first night. After taking for a few days I forgot to take one day and sensations returned that night.

    Dear Jilly

I've been suggesting it's use here for a time as it works for me most of the time. I've also been suggesting quinine tablets or tonic Indian tonic water as that contains quinine and I find that for cramp it works within hours and is totally successful for me.

    Cheers Richard

I've taken magnesium for a few years for night leg cramps. It's worked really well.

Ive been struggling badly with waking up and taking cramps or only being able to sleep till say 4 or 5am and cramping up. I used to take magnesium to help maintain my muscles and tissues for my AS. This post made me realise i shouldn't have stopped it! doh! guess what im going to buy tomorrow! thank you for the post.
