Major pain 10 days post op

Hi fellow hipsters. All has been going slow and steady, despite a tight psoas muscle. While I was lying down this afternoon I reached to my left to grab the phone from my coffee table. I had a major pain in my left hip that shot down the back of my leg.. I was able to move and get up on my feet and wall. After lying back down the pain in my butt (back hip) is throbbing. I am able to do all of my stretches but the pain in the but is overwhelming and I am icing.

Any ideas? I have PT tomorrow.

Thanks,

Kristen

Since all you did was reach to the side, you probably have some soft additional tissue damage. You can always call your surgeon's office to see what he says, and I know you'll hear your PT's opinion tomorrow. If it were me, I'd also rest, ice and elevate as much as possible, and see if it gets better.

      Thanks Annie,

Thanks for your recommendations. I am icing and elevating and will talk with the PT in the morning.

You have twisted which is one of the NO NO's this early.

You may have dislocated your hip.

Can you stand on it or is it really painful.

If that pain dosn't ease can you call an ambulance and get an x-ray done in ER, it will one way or another solve the problem if there is a problem.

I did the same at about 10 days, twisted to adjust a pillow, ended up screaming in pain across the bed, but it did ease after a while, spoke to Dr about it, and even he said came close to dis-location.

      Hi Lynn,

I can definitely stand and walk on it, as well as do all of my stretches. I am going to check with the PT in the morning and see her opinion. I have been icing and elevating.

      Thanks again,

      Kristen

The darndest things can happen no matter how careful we are. It sounds like you are really in pain and there's nothing worse not knowing what happened.

It may be a good idea to see you surgeon for X-ray just to be sure that the implant is secure and not in some way damaged causing pain .

Morning Kristen!! Hope it's nothing serious. I too twisted while getting a shirt out of drawer had pain in buttock for about a day and half. Dr thinks that's how I dislocated my hip. I went about a week and a half on it like that. It was a little difficult doing the exercises but was still doing them, walking too but was a little painful but still walking. Wound up having a total hip revision 3 weeks and 2 days later. Please come back and let us know how you are doing. Wishing you all the best. Hugs 🤗

    UPDATE

Sorry I didn't follow up sooner. My twist was a tweak and my body telling me "don't move like that"! Rest, ice and movement are keeping the pain at bay.

    Thanks again,

    Kristen
